Do you hang your backpack high or low?

This is my first actual hunt with a saddle but I have mine where the middle of the pack is knee high directly in front of me. I like it so far and makes for a decent kneepad. Its fleece so its quite.

I primarily do spot & stalk and still hunting out here in west TX and NM due to the lack of real trees. But when I'm up in the mountains where there are real trees, I hang it on the back side of the tree waist high to access water/snacks for longer sits.

For short sits, I'll hang it off of the front edge of the platform so it's completely out of the way. I do short sits when I see elk/bear/deer/jackalopes heading a direction I can move to intercept. I get up out of their line of sight/smell, wait for them to get within range, then fill the freezer.

I use a prussic and micro biner on my tether to hang my bag at knee level in front of me. I carry a foam stadium seat standing up in my pack so when I want to take a break and all I have to do is move the stuff in the bottom of my bag and put my knees on foam pad against the tree. It also allows me to have everything I need directly in front of me and low enough to not be in my line of sight.

I hang my pack low on a prussik on the tail end of tether. This allows me to clip the pack around the trunk of the tree and keep it secure to the tree and gives me enough knee protection to periodically sit from time to time. My cheap wal mart pack by itself gives me enough padding to put my knees into the tree....it does not get in my way at all and your pack is right in front of you dead center if you need something.

12 o’clock opposite side of the tree. Chest high. My pack is an army surplus 3 day assault pack so it’s not too big. Doesn’t interfere with shooting at all. Water and snacks go in sys hauler hangin off Mantis.
