Giving human names to animals has always been pretty hilarious. I've got a dog I call Bob Hope. I have never named any deer though.

I've never been creative enough to come up with names I felt good enough to share. That and I usually don't see the same deer every year. The only exception to that would be Jimmy white-eye. Got trail cam pics of him as a 1.5 yr old and and really noticed the hair around his eyes were more white than I had ever seen. As far as I know, I'll be chasing him as a 5.5 yr old this upcoming season.

It was just a joke, I don’t name my deer, lol

Yes, and before the arrow hits and penetrates 4” I look back at the camera and say “smoked him”.

I give the ones I see fairly regularly on cam a nickname just because I hate texting my buddies saying “I just shot that 8 point with the sticker on his left g2” when I could just say “I just shot lefty”... doesn’t really matter to me if you do or don’t though, to each his own. I do think it’s funny that people think nicknaming a deer makes you a “tv guy” though lol don’t really understand that one

I used to name them, but for whatever reason I kind of got away from that. Like others have said, it's easier to talk to your hunting buddies and tell them the name of a buck you shot and they know exactly which one it is. I usually call them something that stems from how they look. Split brow, kink (tine with big kink in it), etc. You get the idea.

Me and my brother have taken the same approach. At some point it just gets annoying describing a buck over and over.
We have one we call "Butt Hurt" neighbor shot him through the rump could have shot him a bunch last year.

I never named one until this year. I figured out it gets under my wife skin when I say something like. Cant wait to kill Big Papi..lol
All good fun.

This is how my buddies and I do it as well. I must admit though, I did have one little buck I saw very frequently one year that had a floppy ear. I did call him Eeyore.

I guess I label them more than I realized. I was browsing last years photos and it refreshed my memory of several I had named. Tall ten, messy 7, Mick Daggers, soybean buck, retard, thumbs.
