Does this limb need to be replaced?

I took a hard fall today and was on my butt thanks to a slick rock before I could protect my bow. There are a few that appear to be just surface scratches but I'm new to bow hunting and do not know what really justifies a trip to the bow shop. Any help is appreciated. The scratch on the limb is on the H in Mathews.

the scratch on the limb pocket shouldn’t be an issue.

Keep an eye on the damage on the limb to see if it gets any worse but you should be fine for now. I had a splinter in mine that was worse than that and continued to shoot until my replacement limbs came in.

I would go to the shop at some point though just to see what they say.

As much as it’s a kick in the nuts to cosmetically damage your bow in my opinion you’re good. The scratch on the limb looks superficial and not deep.

Hard to tell for sure with out actually seeing it, but definitely just looks like a chip in the finish.

That said it may be worth a trip to the shop to have it looked over, if nothing else it will give you peace of mind knowing one way or the other. That is a very high stress spot on the limb. Better to be safe than sorry.

For what it's worth, I have bows with much worse looking limbs than that. They are perfectly safe and functional.

Maybe run a cotton ball over it lightly to see if it catches anything. Doesn't look too bad, but yeah that sucks. A lot. Hope you're OK too!
