Ill be filing a complaint with visa come monday morning if I dont have a refund.

About the time I decided to order my climb paws I ran into a post where someone was saying how lack luster the customer service is. Well Im here to tell you its not BS. IF they decide to answer your email, its not in a timely fashion. I find it hard to believe they cant keep up with their current clients.

I ordered my top paws on the 13th of November and at the time didnt notice the backorder. I contacted them, a couple days later I got an email stating that yes they were back ordered but would be shipping much sooner than the projected 4 to 6 weeks. Here it is, Dec 20, my last email earlier this week never got an answer. I have screen shots showing it still processing if youd like to see them.

What I think is happening is this, they are getting as many orders as they can, then making an order when they feel like they cant push anyone off any longer. They certainly cant be making these and having a zero in turn around, if they were making them and not shipping them as fast as they can make them then they are even dumber business people than they have shown. You might ask why... if you only order what you have sold, you have no overhead or inventory that you gotta account for a tax time. See, I was born at night, it just wasnt last night.

At this point you could tell me they came out with a titanium stick system that would get you to 20ft and it weighs 1lb and costs $100, id never deal with them again. I work in Client Relations for a top 200 company in the US, we didnt get to be top 200 by blowing off our customers and promising things we cant deliver.

Now im still without a platform system, I waited 5 weeks and late season starts next week. In the market for some strap style api steps if anyone has some.

That's really a bummer to hear that. I briefly considered buying a set of top paws but after not receiving a reply to my email about availability I quickly forgot about them...

Having worked for a few small businesses I know how shoe-string and bootstrapped a lot of these places are. Especially in a small production/manufacturing op - keeping any sort of 'inventory' on hand presents it's own unique set of logistics issues, just a few of which are materials, storage, shipping, etc. These types of businesses must quickly react to supply and demand or else fade into obscurity just as quickly. I've seen it happen.

Hopefully there is a good reason for the delay. Unfortunately that's probably not going to save the damage already done to the reputation of the business.

Good luck and I hope you can work it out.

Jlh, not sure what you're willing to do on your own, but I made some serviceable steps from plywood. They aren't perfect but might get you through this years later season. Good luck! Sorry you got screwed.

Man, that sucks! I have a set of Climb Paws and my experience with the company 2 years ago was excellent. Hope it's not another hunting company down the tubes...

The steps Boone0 makes are awesome and I'd recommend that design too. But this season I threw together some knock off top paws and they were much faster to build (and might last longer!) I will say I didn't care for the angled top surface because I sit in the saddle a lot and the angle gets really harsh on the ankles unless you're standing against them as was the original intent of their design. But this is also good news because if you made them to resemble the non-angled paws, they'd be super fast to make because there's no awkward fussy angle to align. After cutting 2 opposing 45 degree angles so that if one flat end is against the tree then the other angle is parallel with the ground, just mark a line on each front and back side and drill 1/8th inch holes along it to accommodate a 1" ratchet strap. I'm going to make a set this way, without the angle, and try that design and leave them out all year to test for logevity. I'm thinking of making a jig to hold the 3" PVC pipe and chop with the compound miter so they always come out the same. I can pre-set trees with these on private land so I may make several sets. Haven't committed to that though.

I received a reply to my original email telling me that they attempted to rush order them but failed, how you rush order and fail 5 weeks deep is beyond me.

Anyhow, about a day later I received notification of my refund, it hasnt posted back to my bank account yet but thankfully I didnt need to elevate the situation.

I really wanted to try this system, i was considering a full set before I even got my top paws until the fall out. Id probably try a set, if I bought them second hand, no way id go down that road again. Their webpage lets a lot to be desired too, its almost impossible to find the login without an original email.

Not that you need more convincing, but I'm not too great of a fan of them. I like the concept and the paw construction, but they don't stack so they're bulky, they're hard to get seated well so they don't lean away from the tree when you weight them, and all those buckles and straps are somewhat cumbersome. All that being said, I could use a lot more practice with them to up my skill level getting them into the woods and up the tree. You can make a set similar and fairly quickly but they are probably best if left in place for the season. Good luck! !

I realize this is an older thread. As someone just looking to get started in saddle hunting I came here looking for platform ideas and stumbled on this post. I too got burned with climb paws this last year. I ordered mine in September. At that time there was no backorder warning on their site. I ordered and the money was taken from my bank immediately. After several days with no shipping notice I emailed politely asking when I could expect shipment. Three days later they replied that they would ship out in three more days. They didn't. After waiting five days, two days past when they told me they would ship I emailed them again. No reply. Waited a few more days and emailed again, no reply. Now we are going on two weeks since ordered and a full week after they specifically told me they would ship. I email them again and say if they do not ship within five days to cancel my order and refund me. No reply. After that five days I email again and tell them to cancel my order and refund me. No reply. Now they have ignored for consecutive emails over the course of three weeks. Forget about calling, their website doesn't list a number and if you pull out your Google fu and find it, They won't answer. Finally I contacted the Maine States Attorney General's Office Of Consumer Protection and filed a complaint. I then sent one last email informing climb paws that I had done so. That one got a response, quickly. Within twelve hours they replied. "You have been refunded" That's it. No apologies, no explanations. The next day they had the backorder warning on the site. I would be very hesitant if you are thinking of ordering anything from them.

It took me forever to receive mine as well. I ordered them last year during hunting season and received them this summer. I emailed a few times with very slow responses. They finally told me it would be soon and they would send me a free pocket knife for my wait. My wait lasted another month+. I did get the free knife though. I just waited patiently since hunting season was over and I thought they would be the holy grail for saddle hunting. But, not so. I am not nearly as happy as I thought I would be. I like my cranford rope steps better, they just have some lateral movement to them so I won't use them for a platform. If I didn't already have a few trees set up, I'd be using the paws as a platform only and the cranfords to scale the tree. Next year thats the plan. When Odin releases the strap on version of their step, I'll probably sell the paws.

The Climb Paws are just like Stepp Ladders to me. They work, but are too cumbersome and take too long to install to be useful for a mobile setup. The CPs work ok as a platform, but not great. I have 4 or 5 CPs in my gear box that I never use and I ended up selling all 10 or 12 of my Stepp Ladders.

The last 2 seasons I've used 3 Lone Wolf sticks and 2 Muddy sticks. I like to be at 20+ feet and I need 5 sticks to get me there. I've also modified my LW sticks with a rope attachment to quiet them down and drilled holes in 1 stick so the Muddy sticks will stack together for compact quiet transport.

The Muddy sticks serve two purposes.
1 - I need them to get over 20 feet since I can only get to 15ish feet with the 3 LW sticks.
2 - I like the steps on both side of the stick for when I'm setting my platform.

However, this year I've modified my LW sticks even further and replaced the top single step with a custom aluminum double step. I'm also adding a 2 step webbing ladder to the bottom of each step. This should get me to my 20' hunting height, save some weight, and cut down on my setup time by at least a third.

I wish I would have found this review earlier. I placed an order with climb paws about a month ago and still haven't relieved a shipping confirmation. I have tried to contact them but they won't return my messages. Does anyone have a phone number where they can be reached. All I can find is a email address.

The number I used to contact Climbpaws is: (888) 767-4928. I have not tried to contact them in several years. When they first came on the market, their customer service was great. I have three sets of the Climbpaws and love them. I use them with a Treesuit or with my Tree Saddle. Sorry to read you are having trouble.

I guess that number isn't a working number anymore. They might have disconnected the number to eliminate having to talk to customers. I'll keep trying the email they provide on their website.
