Questions for you e-bike users

1. How do you find deer react when the see/hear you on the bike?

2. How have you noticed them react when the cross the trail where you have driven? I would assume you leave little to no ground scent but am curious.

I’ve noticed zero bad reactions from my e-bike. The deer I encounter in the woods usually never move. I just keep riding past and they just look at me going past. That’s if they’re 10-15 yards off the trail. Compare that to an atv that usually blows the deer out to the next ridge over.

Spot on.

So have any of you noticed a difference in how deer react to crossing the trail of your bike vs a trail you walked on?

I am into my second season with an E-bike, with probably 21 to 28 days of hunting on one. Quoting Rutman above:
"The deer I encounter in the woods usually never move. I just keep riding past and they just look at me going past."

And I never get to my stand smelling like a two cycle engine, or deafened by the loud exhaust.

My ebike has added a whole new level of both fun and stealth to deer hunting. I will never use an ATV again.

I just did a week of hunting out of state and was able to use an ebike daily on my friends farm.

I use a green light setting on my Petzl headlamp and between that and the ebike, I had a doe at five yards in front of me not want to move. I had several others just casually walk out of the way and I had a few move off slowly but not spooked.

I had a group of four walk in sixty yards away from me. On that morning, I propped the bike up against a tree instead of laying it down. They clearly didn't like it and took an extra five minutes debating to move forward or turn and run. They went forward but with visible hesitation. I also watched a fox flip out on the bike against the tree and turn and run. So I'll always lay it down from now on, but that's just me being OCD. Other than that, minimal scent left vs walking in, the time saved to get to your hunting location can equal up to thirty minutes of extra sleep or breakfast or whatever, you don't arrive sweaty for scent purposes and I also noticed I can leave gear
In the saddlebags on the bike and not have to have it in a backpack or in the tree with me which saves some weight and effort also.

It's basically a suron. As far as I can tell there's no way to transport gear on that.
Bow on you back 5.11 sling pack for 1stick. how I carry on ebike, would work on that too. deference in a surron is this isn't belt driven so quieter and a larger battery. ebikes are ok, but too much strain and pedaling even with 20lbs of gear is cumbersome. I've been hunting off ebikes for 5 yrs, they have limitations, just not durable enough, mainly because of the derailers (weeds/sticks bending them and chain stretch). anyone ever rode an ebike with a quartered deer on their back knows they are on the line of what an ebike can do.

Definitely going to vary Ebike to Ebike performance wise. Mine has a Go kart chain and I fly up hills around 25mph

I hunt a few different public pieces where the deer will just stay bedded or ignore me. I’m required to stay on service roads and they don’t mind as long as I just keep on going. When I get off the bike and if they are remotely close they have freaked out.

Anyone have any experience with Coffman e-bikes? Their ridge line is around $1,600. Had also looked at rad rovers too.

Would love a backcou or quietkat but that’s a bit much to spend with a 1 year old and another baby on the way. Wife might kill me.

Is that the brand you can buy through OOAL?
