Electric bikes

I will try and do so soon. My stuff is at a friends farm currently!

Hawk Crawler is the way to go….trailer wise!!! I use a simple 32” nite-ize gear tie to attach my Crawler to the back rack. This allows the trailer to pivot independent of the bike. I live in Colorado, so I understand “hills”. My hunting partner and I pulled out two elk (quartered) and two whitetails this past hunting season with the Crawler and our Bakcou e-bikes! Absolutely the BEST trailer out there for e-bikes.

I’ve used e-bikes for over 5 years. I’ve had Rambo, Bakcou (used to be BackCountry), and one homemade bike. I currently use Bakcou. My advice is to try them out at a dealer, show, or friend and figure out what size, tire height, and suspension you want before you spend the money. Full suspension bikes are not good pack mules. They are great for cushy rides, but you want sturdy, not purdy when you are hauling hunting gear/game back and forth across rough terrain.

Good to know. I have used a Lectric bike for 4 years and it folds in half and goes under truck c over.
I bone everything out in place and have big saddlebags on the bike and in backpack to take it all out at once to iced cooler here in Georgia
My hunt buddy and I used to go to Pagosa Springs for second rifle season in San Juan mountains. We once screwed up and shot 2 cows at 9,000!
All day job getting it all out! Luckily no elk in Georgia

Man i wouldnt get a hub bike for offroad. The minium i would spend money on is a bafang m600 motor and the battery that comes with it. Hubs are fine on asphalt but are just not there for grown men offroad. Yeah they will work for a while, but i have 3082 mi on a bafang m600 with just some chains and a cassette. Cheap is what you pay for a mile riding it, a motor lasting 800mi on you instead of 5000 is not going to be cheap in the long run.

Completely true. My UBCO has two hub motors and both have had failures. It is simply a bad design choice for off-road use.

The better design is the chain drive direct from the motor to a sprocket on the rear wheel (as you have with a bicycle).

I have used a Lectric bike for 4 years. Comes with large saddle bags in which I keep all my after kill tools, game bags etc in. 4” x 20” 30 psi max. Leave on 15 for more comfortable ride. I go 2 miles deep on average. 600
Miles on it all on trails
Adjusted brakes once, nothing else
Great value quality and price.
@Flakeyone which model do you have?

View attachment 112797 I said to hell with the cart. It’s not necessary with the “deer slayer sled” I use.
Back in sep in your other post you said you had a feeling the frame wouldn’t hold up, after a season what are your thoughts now on the frame and the bike in general? Still recommend it? It looks like it worked well based on this pic! But would you still buy that bike now after a season on it or would have preferred a diff bike with other features?

It’s been a beast, especially for the price. I haven’t used it a whole lot still because there are only a few e-bike friendly places I go. The last drag I was trying to conserve battery life so I switched to RWD only and I think I overheated the motor. It stopped working completely. I put it in 2WD and the front motor pulled me for a while and then the rear motor came back to life. Guess I have to keep it in tow/haul mode. Maybe a mid drive is better for towing (I don’t know) but I’m still happy so far. BTW I tightened the stem one or two times and it seems to be staying tight. That was my concern with the frame.

Awesome man good for you on the kill.

I've been eyeing the Jasion X-Hunter ebike for a while now, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Seems like a lot of bang for the buck.

You did not need a bike that is branded for hunting that’s a marketing scam. I did all the research on every model and the best bang for the buck is the Lectric bike With the 4 inch tires inflated at 50%, huge canvas saddlebags for storing things you’re not taking to the tree, but have handy. Five powers of power assist for hill climbing.
Have not had one issue for four hunting seasons. I go deep into the woods where no one else is willing to walk. I think I paid $1000 for it and absolutely no issues with batteries or any parts. Now have hundreds of miles on it. I did adjust the brakes myself, which took 60 seconds. Don’t waste money! Oh, also get the female step through model. You’ll appreciate it when you have a lot of clothes and gear on not having to throw your leg over the seat.

I couldn't care less what the name is, it was the specs of the bike and the price that caught my attention.

i highly recommend dual motors, mine are 400watt each with a 25 ah 52 volt battery, which i don't really understand as in the settings for the display 48 is the setting.

I've really only dipped my toes in the ebike water.. I may buy one sometime, I may not. One thing is for sure though, unless I hit the Powerball or something, I can't see myself spending thousands on one. Some of these bikes cost more than the combined total of the first 3 vehicles I owned! I've got a lot of researching to do before I would buy anything though, that's for sure!

I have an Ecotric "Rocket" (actually, might be the leopard, rocket looks like it has fat tires, or maybe they changed models) and have about 150 miles on it, third hunting season.

I'm in Florida, so we don't have much in the way of hills but plenty of mud and water. It's worked well for my purposes.

It does not have much torque, so I don't see dragging anything not on wheels with it and if you're in a ditch, it struggles to start pulling you up it, but I'm a big boy at 250 lbs and prob have 20-40lbs of gear depending, so that's not terribly surprising. I just give it a couple pedals to help it get started. Could probably drag a deer with it in walk mode. Buddy has one and draped the deer over the saddlebag mount and strapped it on and rode out.

Battery longevity/range is starting to reduce, so I'm sure I'll be replacing it or getting a spare soon.

Overall, I'm happy with it. If I were buying a new one (when I do), I would get a step-through, fat tired bike. Would help a bunch with sugar sand and getting on the dang thing when all bundled up.

It's a game changer for hunting for me, I can cover miles of road or trails that I can't drive down at 15+mph and save all of that sweating and exertion, not to mention time.

Saddlebags are awesome.

Mid drive is much better for towing and hills...

We can take stress off the motor by changing the size of the chainring. You get way less top speed but way more torque. i run a 30t on a bafang BBSHD and it will tow 300lbs of deer for miles no issue. Many hunters on flat ground (and hills) will run single speed instead of a cassette to give you a real bombproof middrive setup. IMG_5264.jpg
