ESS/Wraptor D Ring Scilencing Kit

So I just got this ESS and know there have been complaints about the huge D rings and noise they potentially make.

I have 4 kids and just threwa pair of their socks over them. Think I’ll probably sew them into place too. Not sure if this has been done before or not.

Those scent blocker socks? Lol

I used stretch tape. Amd yes, after 10 sits a corner was peeling, so I put more tape on it. Same tape is used to cover the triglide.

Good solution! It reminds me of the old beer coozie trick on your biners.

For what it's worth, I never saw a need for anything on the Wraptor rings and removed the rubberized coating on the Recon. The webbing and bridge slides better on the bare metal, and I've never had a problem with metal on metal noise. It has not cost me any opportunities on deer.

I was concerned about hockey taping mine because John would talk about how the D-rings would adjust to your position. After a summer of setting up with it, It seemed like the bridge was always in the same spot on the D rings no matter how I positioned the saddle. Do you find you find this to be true?

I used hockey tape and it is holding up really good. I might give this a try as well.

yours may be more durable, but at the same time, it may have more friction.

RE your other comment, I see no problems with the bridge loops positioning/aligning on the rings. As soon as I put weight into the saddle, everything goes into place.

The tear on the tape, though, may be due to precisely that: when the saddle is weighted and the bridge is forced to move, it may peel/push the tape out of a certain key area. I re-taped a bare corner last night (see color difference in second picture) and I will check again after these week's sits.

Yeah I’m not sure they need to slide on those D rings as much as John says. Main benefit of the rings imo is the distribution of weight evenly on the webbing.
I've observed this and I saw very little movement of the bridge loops when swinging around the tree, same with "turning" to a side simulating a shot, say at 8 o'clock. (facing tree at 12). But this movement occurs under tension, that's when the resistance due to the wraps on the D-ring will express itself.

I do see much more repositioning of the bridge loops on the ring when: 1) changing tether height, 2) deploying or retracting panels (say go from 100% overlapped when standing to 0% overlapping when sitting. But these movements are not done under weight and my bridge tends to be lose, that may be the reason why I don't see a problem with the bridge loop readjusting on the ring.

The round rings I used for my Wraptors would probably work better with tape than the other types of rings out there because you're correct, the webbing mainly stays in the same spot with them. I just didn't feel the need for it, so never tried it. No harm either way if it works for your needs!

Is anyone else getting a squeaking/creaking sound of the bridge webbing sliding on the d-ring when under tension now that it is cold out?

I would say maybe. It was 45 degrees on Thursday when I went hunting and thought I was noticing a squeak. Unfortunately it has been getting warmer every day since. Next week is going to get cooler so I will know then.

I put a small amount of bow string wax on the d-ring and the bridge around and that has silenced the issue for me.
