I have tried the search function on the site and didn't see too much about this, so forgive me if I'm beating a dead horse with this question. I've played with several types/brands of steps for my ring of steps (started out with a platform. . .like the ROS method better) and now I think I've narrowed it down to these two for my set-up. I can't read enough about the Squirrel step (probably what I'm going to go with) but the Pioneer step looks pretty well made and the price point is almost half!!! I'm currently using the Silent Approach steps and they're all-right, but I'm just not crazy about them, and with wet boot soles they are not the most traction friendly step. Any real world experience/advice with these steps is appreciated, so let me hear about it. Thank you.

If you vet tape the Bullman/Silent Approach steps they are grippier. I get the appeal of the others though. I've tossed around the idea of trying them out myself but in the end they are just another step that does the same thing. But, I don't use my ROS often enough to care either. Let us know what you end up getting and what you think of them.

Aren't the Pioneer steps a Bullman Outdoors product?

Yes they are. It is the aluminum step they offer. I want to know if anyone has used/experience with both and why they like one over the other. I have the Silent Approach that Bullman offers. . .I've tried Cranfords and Treehoppers and I'm just not "FEELING IT" with these.

I used a set of 7 pioneer steps from Bullman Outdoors on an OCB strap from Eastern Woods Outdoors this past season and I am very happy with them. I wrapped them in vet tape. I don't have experience with the Squirrel steps, but I am sure they are top notch too. If you want an aluminum strap ring of steps, I can't see how you will go wrong with either.

Get monkey bars…..yeah, it’s a Hawk product. I got the set of 4, ditched the cam buckle for an OCB and they won’t budge……the OCB is quite remarkable and I can’t say enough about them. I vet taped up the straps and love them! Not a ROS purist but adding 2 of them to my Hawk Platform strap has been the cat’s meow……seriously!

I agree they work equally as well. The machining on the squirrel steps is higher quality in that all the edges are smooth. It doesn’t really make any difference except I would smooth out the edges where the strap runs through on the pioneer steps. I would go with the pioneer steps just to save money. Haven’t tried the hawk steps.

Here's a few pics side by side

Love the pics @always89y ! Which is which? You didn’t label them so I can’t tell the difference…..imagine that
Should have posted is of the monkey bars before I taped them up……can’t find it

The ones with the rounded footpeg are the Pioneer steps.
