After hunting, morning or evening, and you get the inevitable question, “s’how many did ya see?!?!” Do you include the glowing eyes seen walking in or out in your days “deer seen” total? And if so do you just say “seen 7” even though two were in the dark on the walk in and give that number with no separate classification of the 2 or do you break it down into from the tree/stand and walking in/out? Or do you exclude those all together because they weren’t seen in your target area therefore making them unplanned for or unanticipated by catch not legal for harvesting due to non legal shooting hours ergo rendering their sighting moot in the eyes of the days hunt?

This stuff keeps me up at night.

Question 1A; do you mark those spots where you saw those eyes and further investigate?

I count what I saw. Example: 2 on the walk in and one the way out. I will absolutely mark those spots and prob hunt the next time I'm out. I'm looking for hot sign. What's hotter than a deer standing there???

I break them down between from the tree and to/from. Definitely make note of deer encountered going in or out.
