Fastest crossbow in the World! Ten Point Crossbow...505 fps

In Michigan they’ll probably allow rocket launchers and hand grenades in 2022 so I’ve been working out my throwing arm.

I’ll tell you all right now, if you’re a decent hunter, and all you do is change to a crossbow, you’ll drop more animals. They’re super easy, lethal, noise or no noise. I used one this year for the first time due to moving. It’s fine, not as rewarding, not as hard, not as fun in my opinion. But lethal as heck. That said, my shots were 30 yds. They are also MAJOR wounding devices. I’d say almost every story I hear now is about a lost deer with a x bow. Just plain overestimating lethality at range. And also proficiency at range. Those little bolts are not like a big heavy arrow. And they’re traveling so fast they’ll do funky things. 2 blade heads tend to “plane” or deflect upon animal contact…I mean just they’re so light and fast it’s not surprising. Not every time of course but often enough to say that it’s commonplace.

How loud is a 500fps crossbow? Maybe states should combat the technology advances of crossbows and airbows with maximum decibel requirements, which would tilt the scales back towards traditional and compound bow hunters again...

NY has rules for poundage and width of limbs (can't remember if its cocked or uncocked) I honestly feel if they include them (which I am in favor of) they should include all crossbows. Saying the should have decibel requirements is kinda like saying "That rifle is to loud, the old guys did it with slugs and bird barrel shotguns". Thing's change and so does technology. Christ we use top of the line trucks, GPS, saddles, stands, scent containment clothing, clothing that keeps us warmer than anything they had 15-20 years ago, scents for the deer, cameras that send a picture the instant something walks into frame and a whole bunch of stuff I am forgetting

You're right about advancements in technology, but I was just throwing that out there as a wild idea. You'd have to admit that if we get to the point that opening day of archery sounds like a chorus of firecrackers going off in the woods then we might have gone too far with things. I think it's fair to ask these manufacturers to balance performance with tradition.

Yes and NY also has a special season carved out for crossbows within the bow season (last two weeks of the bow season before it goes to the regular firearms season). At the time of this writing, the crossbow must have an un-cocked minimum width of 17" (outer tips of limbs excluding wheels or cams), a minimum overall length of 24" and must be able launch a minimum bolt/arrow length of 14" not including the legal "arrowhead." They didn't even call it a broadhead which as a bowhunter, is frustrating. Finally, the crossbow must have a draw weight between 100 and 200lbs. You do not need to take a bowhunter education course to use a crossbow which is also frustrating to me. I own two crossbows, a HC Mini and another one I won at a banquet so I am not "anti-crossbow" at all; however, many of us believe anyone wanting to hunt with a crossbow should be required to take a bowhunter education course just like someone wishing to hunt with a vertical bow. At the end of the day, the crossbow "bolt or arrow" still relies on severe hemorrhaging or bleeding to kill, not shock like a firearm. So shot placement and blood trailing become very critical. I also think you should be able to use one during the firearms and late seasons but not during the early archery season. That was carved out for bowhunting specifically and in my opinion should remain that way.

Very true...I do believe it should have special instruction from a hunter safety instructor either in the bowhunters course or separate course.

For years, crossbows only offered a slight advantage. You didn’t have to worry about getting spotted while drawing, but you still had to be within 40-50 yards and know pretty accurately your yardage. I have seen those ravin crossbows absolutely dump deer out to 70-80 yards with ease. It’s getting to be about as effective as muzzle loaders.

I think a solution may be an age/disability thing, or a separate shorter archery season, maybe like 1 month where crossbows are allowed.
I have a Ravin R26. I have killed two deer with it in the last 2 years. One at 15 yards and one at 12 yards. lol. I have killed easily over 100 big game animals across the US and Canada with my compounds.

Having said that, I can pick up my Ravin today and walk outside and hit a 10 ring at 94 yards on the first shot without having shot it since early September. Absolutely unfair compared to my Bowtech Revolt X.

But, I dont make the laws. I like the option to use whatever i feel like carrying that particular day. This year , all of my arrow kills (4) were with my Bowtech. Season isnt over for a few more weeks. Its possible i may take the Ravin out if i have to bundle up in the stand.

Wow taking a deer at 70+ yards with an Xbow would be crazy. I've killed a number of deer with a compound but switched to the hickory creek mini Xbow 2 seasons ago after a shoulder surgery. And yes I do feel a little less legit for being able to pull a trigger and not have to worry about my draw timing. But I am still only shooting out to 30 yards which means my set up has to be just as good as a normal bow set up. I know the public land I hunt in Tennessee just simply does not afford you any 70 yard shots in early season, maybe not even in muzzleloader season. After opening weekend, deer dare not show themselves on a field in daylight so I just don't see spending all that money being worth it or helping anyone kill a significant amount more deer.

That Tenpoint is almost half the speed of sound, and it didn't seem that loud in the video of it I watched. I'd like to get a new compound but I'm always debating if I should get a crossbow instead. Maybe I'll wait for one to reach 600 fps.
