Favorite headlamp?

How long does the charge last?

Depends on which mode you use. I think it’s a good 2+ hours for the main round light on high. Quite a bit more for the outer white lights and even longer for the red mode.

As much as I love the thought of having a rechargeable light, some times I go camping hunting and am not able to charge a light consistently. I MUCH prefer being able to use AA or AAA lights. I typically buy a 100 pack of AAA's and keep 15 or so in my bag at all times.

Yep. Just to add though, the Fenix rechargeables use an 18650 rechargeable lithium ion. However, that can be substituted with two CR123as, which are non-rechargeable lithium ion batteries. I have both types on me at the start of the season. Also, in extremely cold temps (which in WV is anything below 10 or 15 F), the CR123as work better than the 18650s.

I am extremely impressed with Fenix lights (overall and for the money).

I have this one

but also this that is a true replacement for a handheld torch

I carry either of those. The last one uses rechargeable lithium ions that hold a charge a while and are very powerful.

I don't ever want to drop a headlamp and be stuck in a tree in pitch dark, so I also carry one of these in my pocket.

Agreed - the Fenix HL30 is my choice for a headlamp. It checks all the boxes:
- can run it in the rain with no worries
- dim & bright white modes
- dim red mode
- replaceable batteries (AA)
- lockout mode prevents accidental drainage

STREAMLIGHT 61425 Enduro Pro Headlamp with Alkaline Batteries, Headstrap White/Green LEDs Clamshell Coyote https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079BW37YX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_0p1zFbJ2WRQSQ

VERY happy with this after some piss poor black diamonds for more than triple the price.

Had a Princeton Tec Quad Tactical (pretty big name) break on me at the plastic hinge after light use just changing batteries. I don't think I ever used it in the field. So I'd avoid it.

I’ve been very impressed with this cheap option: Redlight Spot Rechargeable Headlamp, 500 Lumens White Cree LED Head Lamp Flashlight with Red light and Motion Sensor Switch, Perfect for Running, Hiking, Lightweight, Waterproof, Adjustable Headband https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KG5LGRZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Ze7zFbMHTNCP7

Brighter and lasts longer than my black diamond headlamp and is noticeably lighter (probably due to battery weight).
