Here is my setup

I’m using unloaded prusik knot for backup and your setup to hold me when I take off my one stick
Works great !!

Fabulous!

Are you leaving one wrap for rappel?

Yes I did today and it does make the lockup faster and easier

Only thing I think I’ll change is I’ll shorten the backup and use a separate carabiner once I’m ready to put on my figure eight and rapell that way I can use this setup to climb with

I like your setup in the picture.
I did notice right away that it would definitely be too long and far away from me to reach. Lol
Heck, my 8 is almost up against the tree when I hook up below my tether.

I shorten my bridge all the way down

Once I’m ready to hunt I put my linemen’s rope around the tree adjust the bridge for hunt then reverse to get down

I tried that and it kinda sucked because of the delta link keeps wanting to fall down the tree.
That's just one of the reasons I climb with a normal tether...

This will also work but I like the rubber grommet better

What kind of anchor knot it that? It could just be the knot angle but it doesn't look like a scaffold knot.

I tried using this approach for 2TC and hated it as there were too many sub steps involved. Climbing on a girth hitched tether releases easy and sets instantly. The rubber washers do work great though when fixing the rappel line though.

Scaffold knot

Let me check it over again I tied it earlier today and did notice I thought the tail end was short.
I was testing at ground level so I was ok but thank you for looking out

My knot was not correct I had only went two times around not three thank you so much for paying attention

Thank goodness I was at ground level testing. I also wanted to try the notch quick link out today I guess I got in a hurry and made a mistake.

Double check your knots and all your gear guys !!

I have just tried @phatkaw way and while I can appreciate the need for a back up I dont feel it's needed. Seems like having a prusik above the figure 8 is just redundant, which is perfectly fine. Nothing wrong with being on the cautious side. I was just wonder if having the klemheist or autoblock would be a better option. Since they are much easier to loosen under load. My first rappel was done today and I used his double soft lock for hands free and the single soft lock on rappel. Didn't use a back up and the double soft lock held just fine. The soft lock on rappel was very comfortable and when weighted, the drop was very manageable. The decent speed was a good pace and the stopping was able to be done with just 2 fingers. Foe me it simplified things and I didnt have to spend any big cash on a Madrock, Grigri or Beal Birdie. However, I could see the need for the back up especially if injured while rappelling. Being able to finish the rappel with one hand and not worry about falling does set the mind at ease.

I agree his system holds very well and I like it and maybe someday I’ll feel I don’t need the backup but I’m not there yet .
I feel better about this setup than a safeguard for sure and I think I’ll most likely climb with my tether
