I loved it. Also tried climbing w rappel line etc. I’m not sure how ppl are using the smart as an ascender. It slips. Now, if i drop a bit in rappel mode it really sets up nice. But climbing im not sure how to get it to set hard like that. Im using the mamut biner for it too
 
FWIW I started asking similar questions on a thread a while back about the Smart 2.0. I’m using it this year and really liking it so far too. Maybe something in this thread can help you out:

 
I use a friction hitch and ascend with it. My main goal for using it is so I can instantly rappel if I need to, for safety purposes. Similar to climbing a tree, I think using the Smart for ascending safely comes down to slack management. Because I use a friction hitch on my LB loop below the device, with properly reduced slack between the two it forces the device into proper alignment and holds things steady.
