First time post here on the forum. Excellent place, I’ve learned a lot just being a lurker. Shot this 8 point buck on a big piece of WIHA land here in Kansas. I had a little over a mile walk to get to a small oak ridge that jutted out into public land. Set up in a tree using two muddy pro sticks with custom Amsteel products double step aiders, I was around 15-17 feet in the tree. I’m using the trophyline pro saddle and so far I am real happy with it. This buck came in 30 minutes before dark, I let out a muffled grunt and he came running in. Shot was a whopping 5 yards. Angle was pretty steep so I had some creeping doubt about weather I got one or both lungs. He ran down hill towards a creek that was running pretty swift. I decided to back out till morning and give him time. A good friend wanted to help me retrieve the buck and we found him within 20 minutes of searching. He died about 75 yards from where I shot him. The shot looked perfect on recovery and the 125 grain ramcat did its job. I absolutely love this type of hunting and my only regret is not picking up a tree saddle sooner. Good luck out there everyone and be safe!
