Does anybody use first lite or has?? I’m curious to know how good the pants and jackets hold up going through thickets with briars and brush?

You’ll get covered in briars but they hold up well
Get a briar glove online
Brushes them right off

Which line up do you have? I’m leaning on getting a set just don’t want to dish out that much money and the pants not hold up

Got my first lite gear 3 years ago, well the pants and shirt I'm wearing now, I go through briars every hunt. You'll have to pull them off, and they will stab you, but the clothing holds up. I used to go through a pair of under armour pants every season because of briars, first lite saved me money by lasting this year.

So I have the obsidian pants and Klamath hoody
And the sanctuary set

We have bad beggars lice burrs here in Indiana
They come off though
And the clothing still looks great
You’re paying a good price yes, but the product is top notch

No doubt I knew they would be good just got me a little nervous reading some reviews of folks saying they don’t hold up in briars and brush so I wanted to get some other opinions!

I have everything you just listed and would highly recommend all of them. I was nervous about the obsidians for the same reason you noted, but called FL and they told me that for every one of those negative reviews there's a 100 guys saying they are bomb proof. I have yet to put a single tear in my. Granted, I'm of the opinion that if you can walk through briars or take an extra 20 steps to go around that I'll take the 20 steps every time as walking through briars is just extra noise. Obviously there are times when it can't be avoided and mine have yet to rip from those times. Just avoid briars when can and stay away from a legit thorn bush and you'll be fine.

I've got a few small holes in my kiln hoody, but for the amount I've worn it it's hardly note worthy. Wool will eventually show some wear, just the nature of the beast, but it's pros are worth it. Little bit of nylon thread and you can patch just about any hole.

FL gear doesn't necessarily make you a better hunter, but it does make it easier to sit out there all day IMO. Which if you're an average hunter, which is where I'd currently rate myself, time in the stand at the right time of year is the best thing you can do to increase your odds.

Awesome what I was hoping to hear I hunt 100% public biggest reason I was even looking at first lite was merino wool wicking off moisture because 9/10 iv sweated 5 gallons before I even get to my stand then I’m cold all day

I'm 110% the same way when it comes to getting too warm for comfort on the walk in.

I would look at their wick short sleeve shirt, or any other lightweight merino t shirt, too. I'm fortunate to hunt basically all private, but I still have walk a long ways to get to some of my best spots. In those situations where overheating on the way in/out is highly likely I will only where the wick SS up top and will hang my set and cool down before adding any layers.

I think you'll be surprised how much of your season the set you outlined will get you through. I can hunt down into the 40s with my kiln top/bottom, furnace top/bottom, obsidian pants, and catalyst jacket. Granted i'll have moments where I might feel chilled, but I always seem to warm back up and stay within a hunt able temperature.

If you buy the First Lite Obsidians or any of the merino tops, expect to be about naked by the time you get back to your truck. The lady at our dry cleaners calls me/my FL clothes lettuce due to the shredding. I have taken the obsidians 3 times for repair. Last one was un fixable and that wasent even deer hunting in green briar/black berry, but pheasant hunting in kansas

This hate for the obsidian pants baffles me. They are far and away the best treestand/saddle pants I have ever worn—on any dimension. I am hard on stuff, too, harder than most. Three seasons and still like new. I use Merino wash and baby them in the laundry but that is about it.

I like to be comfortable in the stand, the sanctuary bibs and woodbury jacket have come out of the bin already once this year.
