First Sling

I'm in southwest Ohio
There are definitely a few guys here from Ohio who may be able to help you out. I'd start a thread titled something like "new guy from ohio looking to try a saddle" and you should at least be able to find out where they're at.

I'm in Columbus. I have a Web, a Sit Drag, Trophline in sizes, Med, Lg and XL, the very elusive (fictitious) Frankensaddle, TreeSuit, Anderson/big buck Slings, a few custom builds... I'm headed North East for muzzle loader this weekend. then we only have another week or two of duck hunting.
We could work out a duck hunt in January or a Coyote hunt after duck season and before turkey scouting begins Mid-March. Shoot me a PM with counties you hunt or let me know where you are coming from and how far you are willing to drive.

You said you are using that in conjunction with a Rock Climbing Harness, right?
I MAY have a matching buckle for you. If I do, I can sew it onto a loop so you can use the wire gate carabiner as initially intended to hold the SnD onto your RC harness.

I don't have on yet but will likely need to get one, especially since this is my first saddle. I still don't understand all the gear I'm going to need and how it all connects together. So, yeah. Any help I can get, I'd appreciate.

It's weird, and somewhat counterintuitive, but I feel much safer in my sling than any treestand.

Weird, maybe, but I feel the same way. I'm never nervous until I unweight my tether and stand on the platform. Similar to sitting on stand. I know the rating on the saddle and ropes, know how it's rigged to the tree, and know how much safer it truly is.

What do you mean unweight your tether to stand on the platform? You don't stay tight on that?

I'm more of a leaner, so sometimes to get into my pack, or add a layer, I'll lean forward to stand on the platform for a minute. The tether is always on and I do use the ropeman to take up most of the slack. It might not be completely tight for a minute or two, but always connected.

Haven't tried to add a lower layer like rain pants while staying connected. Not quite sure how to that in the evo. And I may need to Sunday. It's our last day for this year and lots of rain forecasted.

I see. You mean temporarily.
Thanks for clarifying.

Not sure if this helps but I will put on the RC harness/ sit drag combo and then pull the outer 3d camo pants over everything. The bridge/teacher then comes out the top of camo pants and the 3d camo jacket (tucks) in and over the bridge. I bet the same would work for the rain gear. You would never have to unhook and not be secure. When I walk into the woods, the only different thing you might see is the bridge hanging out from under the camo jacket (If it becomes untucked).
