First water buck

Maybe there's an obvious answer, but why not? It it that it simply doesn't float?
Well, it's not going to float well after being gutted that's one thing. But if the water isn't good enough to drink without a filter, I wouldn't want it touching my meat.
 
I use a small duck skiff to access a couple areas. It's a bit wider and more stable than the small 12' canoe I was using, which is welcome when I'm fortunate enough to float one back out...
 
that's great, I hunt a few areas where I use a canoe quite a bit too. Almost hauled a 7pt out last Friday by canoe but forest road was less of a drag and easier terrain than weaving through cypress knees and blow downs to the river. Agree with DanO too, definitely don't field dress if you plan to float it out.

Will a non-gutted deer float?
 
They will float but too many gators here in FL to test this with anything less than a canoe
