Foot loop too short

Hi all, new saddle hunter practicing for my first season in a tree.
After looking at various climbing methods I decided on SRT to get me into the tree. My method is a lifeguard hooking me to the rope and a hand ascender with a foot loop attached. My problem is that the foot loop is about 2 feet too short when fully adjusted. The pain of being tall.

is there a safe way to extend the foot loop? Or even a longer one that you recommend?

As it is I’m making to with it being attached to the rope via prusik and carabiner. It works, but it’s more steps needed to get me to height.

They have endless loop dyneema slings at REI and online that I imagine you could girth hitch to each side to extend your foot loop length. They’re inexpensive and would be a safe choice as they’re are used independently as a foot loop for minimalist rock climber foot loops.

Try a different hitch than a prusik! You'll have to search and test different ones to see what you like, but I guarantee most of them are far more easy to work with than the prusik.

PS. Michoacan and JRB self tending ascender hitch(tricky to learn, but very workable!)....

The problem isn’t setting it up so much as moving it up the rope every time I get higher into the tree, and it forces me to change where the lifeguard is hooked to the Srt rope. edit: waist height as opposed to chest height

I recommended it because its smooth as butter going up and capturing your progress....it slides up easy and holds you, then slides down easy and holds you, no lever just 2 fingers.....and it can be your back up on the way down to your munter hitch or figure 8. Once you tie it on, you dont need to take it off other than periodic checking and re-tieing it to prevent wear in one spot!
You've gotta check out the JRB channel to see it in action.

The foot loop is not life support so you can just tie a strap on with three half hitches. I use a ratchet strap which happens to be camo.
