I already sold the 4D version. I have 2 of the Floating-D versions, on to tinker with and one for rec climbing/home tree work. I did cut the D-ring off of the one saddle and the Black Diamond Mini-Pearabiner works awesome on it! I left the leg straps alone, mostly because they are 1-1/8" or 1-1/4" and won't fit through my (on hand) 1" hardware. I did wrap the lineman's rings (on the saddle that I cut the floating-D off of) with paracord, and that will work well with carabiners.

Are you guys cutting the leg straps off?

I one stick and the leg straps are adjustable so I'm keeping them on. They just seem to make the saddle fit me better too.

I wrapped the floating D with vet wrap and am doing the metal LB Loops as well. So far it doesn't seem noisy to me with these parts vet wrapped.

I get a couple of "tink tink"'s when walking with loose leg straps. Mostly quite, and quite enjoyable sits

I was just directed to this thread.
It got by me somehow.

I ordered ropes and hardware back in November and I'm actually still waiting on backorder.
The good news is I got the Floating D first week of December and was able to try it out quite a bit.

I wrapped my D with paracord and cut the leg loops off all together.

I also added a cord from the line man loop thru the D to the other lineman loop.
This gives me the feel I like.

I like it. My welkforder has a lil more cushion around the belt but with my winter clothes I'm fine.
Thats why I bought size 2 by the way.

For the price and wait on saddles I went to belts and am not going back.

Excellent for one stiking.

I would suggest to the floating D guys to hang at ground level and take any cord available for trail purposes and tie off to a d ring then run it thru the slot in the main D so the webbing doesn't get pinched and then thru the other d ring.

Now shorten the cord and feel how the belt takes more of your weight as your leaning and also aleviates the load in the seat.
This is how I'm running mine and don't use or feel the need for a back band..
You might like it.
Find your own sweet spot.

Now shorten the cord and feel how the belt takes more of your weight as your leaning and also aleviates the load in the seat.

I haven't hunted out of this saddle yet but playing with it in the yard the second bridge made a big difference. My plan was to simply use my linesman's belt as the second bridge. It will already be hooked up on one side, just run it through your tether caribiner, connect to the side and adjust it as needed.

I've tried the petzl open ring on the floating d and it works ok but I think a small hms biner with a 5/8x2-3" piece of pvc or other roller would work better. On the 4d, I was going to see if the ring would fit into the sewn loop the bridge d's come in. Havent tried that yet but there may be better options

That yellow cord is climb rated 6mm.

This is my one stiking belt. Probably becoming my main belt.

This is my first belt.
Welkforder work positioning belt.
I absolutely love it but the notch is specially designed for hanging and as such the second panel is more comfortable one stiking.

Other than that, I trust my life on it just like hanging on rebar tying steel for living.
Done that.

I found just using a wrap like a munter hitch while hanging at ground level in a manner I would be hanging up in the tree, I just lengthen and shorten the cord and before long I decide on a length and tie it off.

Exactly what I do. Wrap lineman's rope around tree twice for extra stabilization.
