Friction hitches on tether

Do you find it a little dicey on your lineman belt...like super touchy?

I noticed with the Michoacán that when I first set it when I’m using it the amount of friction is perfect and easy to break and reset. If I move it while it’s under load, it’ll move once MAYBE twice and then it’s almost locked up but not quite.

I like that my distel hitch requires a bit of elbow grease (maybe 10 or so lbs of force) to move after being weighted (makes me feel more secure). A prusik with Oplux and TRC is too much grab though (have to stop and thumb the hitch open and work on it)

I noticed going to TRC on HTP that it grabs real hard also but not too hard. I like it. I added a turn on my Michoacán from “standard”. I have 4 turns if I remember correctly. It grabs just as good as with 3 turns but takes a little more intentional force to move it if I was up 20’ and grabbed it by accident.

I found that Anything other than a prussik slips just a little each time I put heavy load on it from the ground? Maybe I’m not tying correct or using too long of cordage? Tying my own with 48” 6mm sterling on 8mm ultra tech. I’d rather have to work a knot loose a little than have any slippage. Especially at 20’

Add another wrap. For instance, the way a distel is tied on the knot websites, it slips for me. Add one more wrap and it is great.
