Gear Strap

That zip tie to hold open the gate is genius. I’m copying that.
Yea it’s great for a bow holder (the hero clip has that rounder knob in the end which holds a pack but gets hung on my bow cam. The zip tie allows me to use the s biner as an s biner later on if I need to.

I like to take my quiver off my bow when I hang it. The Mathew’s quiver holder pairs really well to the hero clip. So I hang the bow there.

But I don’t like fidgeting to get a clip open to take the quieter off of where it is hung. So this would work well.

That's what iuse except I ditched the camjam got a dutchware whoopee hook and whoopied it in .now I don't have to worry about that camjam falling 20' ever

I made my own HYS strap out of 3/4" webbing...very compact light and user friendly...zero fidde factor and can be used on any size tree...I've tried other things and liked the HYS strap best... its just what works for you...

just finished making me one, found an aluminum camjam laying around. Idk why i never thought of this before
Just be careful with those cam jam rope adjusters, they are open on the side similar to harken cleats, you bump into it the wrong way and the cord can pop out. They are strong and hold great, I just wish they would close off the sides.

I’m using paracord as well, but instead of running prusiks, I just folded it in have and tied over knots every for inches or so to create a daisy chain. I have a hero clip for my bow, a large S biner for my pack once the cord is girth hitched, and two other small s biners for my quiver, grunt tube, and range finder.

I also have a spare gear ties from my sticks if I need to add anything to it.

Yeah I sort of found that by happenstance messing with it, if you notice I put a knot on the tail end that slides as I tighten it down, if the line were to pop off it would loosen but still remain attached.

I used a strap with plastic connector clips and added S hooks. Then switched to paracord, now 1/8” amsteel. Cam jam is the adjustable connector and I still use the S hooks, they work great. I have some small clips I may try for hanging other stuff. I’m all about making some small prussiks or maybe starting longer and adding a bunch alpine butterflies for loops.
so many options and no need to $pend a bunch of money…..I’m still tweaking:hearteyes:

Ever have one of those "slap yourself in the face I feel so stupid moments?"

I started saddle hunting in 2021 and made a DIY gear strap that I was very unhappy with and was about to buy a commercial strap. I never made the connection that those straps are the EXACT same thing as the Atlas straps for hanging a hammock. You can get a 2-pack at ****s Sporting Goods for $10. I'm an avid camper backpacking and have these straps coming out the ying yang and never put 2 and 2 together.

I can't believe I never thought of this system BEFORE I became a saddle hunter. The thorn in my side was always screwing in a bow holder and assortment of screw in hooks to hang stuff. I hunt private land so I can use them but I hunt hardwoods and it's always a pain getting those things screwed in. Being a backpacker and my sleep system is a hammock - I have climbing rated biners, s-clips, figure 9s, etc coming out the wazoo.

After suffering thru this last season I had everything already in my possession under my nose to make it right. I pride myself in being an academic that actually has common sense and sometimes still can't see the forest for the trees. LOL!

The only downfall is that the gear loops are not open like the saddle companies sell so it is a bit harder to get the loop open when under load. However, its not too difficult to spend the extra money for the ones they sell.

They are also much bulkier

The HYS strap is probably my favorite piece of gear since I learned about them...no more screwing in hooks to hard trees...made my own which was a fun and rewarding project

I really like the Backwoods mobile gear hangar. About the size of a racquetball when wrapped. Tried a few of them and this was my favorite.

Do those loops stay open when the line gets tightened? That's my biggest issue with the one I have which I think is from EWO
