Saturday 14th- Georgia's early season opener
I didn't get to make it out the first morning of the season due to some prior obligations. But I had every intention of hanging that afternoon!

This was my FIRST EVER hunt in a saddle, my DIY saddle at that, with my DIY camera arm and 8 primal v-steps, and a DIY aider

I did a little suburban hunting at a spot I dropped a salt rock out about a month ago. Within 10 minutes I had 2 nice does and 2 fawns come in and hang for about 20 minutes or so. It was awesome to be able to walk around the tree and be dead silent at the same time.
I had a good wind, blowing perpendicular from any possible deer traffic, not that it matters as much when you're neighborhood hunting! But it was a piece of the puzzle.
2 Minutes after the does and fawns walk off, I hear a step behind and to my right (weak side). I peer over my shoulder to see this guy strolling through!!! He had absolutely ZERO clue I was there.
I grabbed my bow and ranged him at 25 yards. Drew back on him once and had to let down, because he got behind some smaller trees. He moved a few more feet in the same direction, positioning himself almost perfectly broadsided to me with a slight quartering too.
I let an arrow fly, and had that iconic POP on impact. I saw the deer do a good kick and take off running! I listened in real close and was pretty sure I heard him pile up about 50 yards away.

My hunt lasted under 1 hour and I was able to harvest my first opening day deer/opening day buck, and possibly my biggest buck to date!! Man you just can't beat that!!
I retrieved and then had the animal in the truck bed by 6:30pm and off at the processor by 7:30pm, then dinner at home while it was still a little light outside!!!

I may not ever have a hunt like that again, but it will be one of the many memories made in the woods that will stay with me forever.

All my DIY work, all my hard work and preparation this off season, all the research and self educating I did, ALL PAID OFF!!

I want to throw a special shoutout to EVERYONE on this forum for helping me brainstorm and figure out what works for me. There is a wealth of knowledge on this site and I believe it to be one of the most civil and down to earth groups on the internet.
Without saddlehunter.com I would have never learned a fraction of the things that got me up my tree that day. THANK YOU ALL!!
Cheers to y'all!
Cheers to a great season
Cheers to Livin'!!!!

What a beautiful buck! Thank you for shaing!

What are the details of this DIY camera arm?

Thanks for reading!!
I made this DIY Camera Arm out of some shower curtain rod. My initial idea was to use the fatter piece on the base and to be able to slide the smaller part of a shower rod into the base arm. Thus creating a two piece arm like most and allow you to mount the base easily and then mount the arm to the base. I will most likely still end up doing that. But I couldn't get the joint tight enough with a pin to keep the base and arm together solid enough.

I ended up just making it another fulcrum point right off the base arm, which gave me more maneuverability around the tree at the same time.
The whole thing is light enough to mount together as one piece. and it was FO FREE so!!!! Ya can't beat that.

I still need to do some fiddling around with my stiffness at the turn points....and it by no means qualifies as "PRO" but with a cheap ass tripod head on the end I have a pretty sweet little DIY Camera Arm.
