Getting your gear up the tree

I wear pack to tree set it up against tree hook my paracord pull up to my bow (if I don't have a pre installed pull up line). My pack has on half of a rare earth magnet set and the other magnet is one my Doyle's. When I get set in the tree I lower the line the two magnets hook up and up comes the pack. After gear hanger is in place and pack is hanging I pull up bow. I climb with platform or steps and set it as I reach the top.

Where did you get your magnets? I’ve been looking for a set that will accomplish this.

Well, Cabela’s had 10% off yesterday, plus points, gift cards and free shipping, so I got a Superday pack for $62. It should be here Thursday.

Thanks for all your ideas. I plan to add some hooks to my saddle (when I finally get it!) and paracord loops to my sticks for setting. I’ll strap the bow to the pack to get up the tree. And a paracord pull rope with a magnet or hook seems like a great idea for dropped equipment or a backup plan. I appreciate all your ideas.

For getting the bow up in the tree, I now use a Doyle's gear hoist. Prior to that, I was using a carabiner that was attached to the back of my suspenders or backpack (depended on where I was hunting) and carried it up as I climbed. If I have more gear to haul up I have a small grappling hook that I use to fish stuff up.

You mean fish up stuff like that hoodie I just dropped...starting to get chilly up here.

I use three sticks with aiders, pack on back with 25' of 1/8 amsteel from west marine to pull my bow up once my gear hanger is attached. That amsteel is light and slick and doesn't tangle like paracord. Trying to untangle 550 in freezing temps in the dark was driving me crazy

I hunt in extremely thick brush and undergrowth. I hate trying to lug any kind of long rope with me. I have an archery backpack that my bow will strap to. I only climb with my backpack and bow on my back. That way when I get up all I have to do is unpack.

What pack do you use?

Tie my bow to the hawk gear line and my backpack to the tether. It's a 12ft line so my last few feet the bag is in the air. They both get clipped to my harness. I only use the tether because hauling my bag on paracord or the hawk line sucks and I can set up a mini haul system with my ascender. It works well and is way easier than climbing with my pack on. I'm a bit out of shape.

I do kind of the same as stated. Going to try working my system into a backpack. I have my 3 helium sticks and platform all strapped together strategically with tent loops and two bungies. I carry them with an extra linesman’s rope which I use to also carry the whole set up the tree and unhook each piece slowly while working my way up the tree. When at the base first all I have to
Do is take off two bungies and set the first step, then I can make it up in one. Bow on the ground with a bow cord. I wear a cross chest small backpack and slide the sticks over cross way. Definitely thinks backpack system would be the best, especially when carrying extra clothing.

How much weight can the magnets pull up? Id hate for my stuff to fall when it was half way up

These magnets are scary strong. I will weigh my pack but it is not light.

I'm a one tripper. Despise having to go up and down for gear.

I use paracord (about 10" long) that is attached to my RC harness/saddle. Paracord has loop on end. I take that loop through a hole on step and then slip over the point of step. This allows steps on both hips to hang and easily removed with no worries of noise.

Pack and bow are strategically placed at base of tree. Up the tree I go with platform or stand on my back. Once up and set I remove trusty homemade grapple hook. Grapple is attached to paracord and I proceed to fish everything up one at a time. Quick, easy, lightweight, and deadly quiet. Plus if I ever drop anything I can retrieve (most) without climbing down.

I did cut and wrap small pieces of reflective tape around grapple hook and loop on pack. Works great during darkness while using red head lamp.

Kind of fun and entertaining also.

Making one of these!!! Great idea! Then I can rescue my gloves and stocking hat!
