Glove, tab, fingers, release?

I think this is going to work. Cut a short piece of 1” webbing and sprayed it with 3 coats of plasti-dip. Holds good and didn’t shake off with a fair amount of wiggle. Slides off the string easily though. Going to try to get it stitched on in the next few days and see if affects shooting any.

My tab finally came in and I was able to shoot a little with it today. Man I SUCK with that thing!! Is that normal or should I go ahead and bail on the tab?

Every time I have started with a new tab it seems to take several rounds of shooting,100-200 shots, for it to break in and really start feeling right. May need to trim it a bit too. Once you get it right, for me, nothing shoots or anchors better.

I'll second this. I shoot the same tab as @BTaylor shows above. When I switch to a new on I have problems with face scrapes until it gets broken in and starts feeling right.

Bare fingers all the way been doing it for decades after I keep losing or forgetting my tabs. After awhile you get used to it but if I have to use a tab I will use a simple piece of leather about 3/4 oz or cordovan piece I have shot heavy bows and have no problem

And if you shoot a tab make sure you trim it no matter what brand you use unless you got super long fingers. There is no rule you have to shoot what they made for size I like mine slightly past my first finger joint when I hook on the string I feel more control and quieter as no extra piece of tab flapping away. Trim a little at a time by hooking on your string and see where it lines upas you draw

I’m sure I need to watch some YouTube or something but I’m not even sure where it’s supposed to line up at this point.

Edit: after watching three videos I definitely need to trim the tab as I got some of that face whip I heard about.

I have tried all kinds of finger releases for over 50 years. Black widow is good, but the best I have found is Yost.

It takes a good bit of shooting to get use to. I was extremely frustrated shooting a tab at first. I can shoot with either now but a glove still feels home to me. I’d say it took 10 days of shooting with a tab to be locked on as well as I was shooting with a glove. Don’t discredit how shooting and feeling will improve as the tab breaks in (if you have thicker leather tab).

I too had a heck of a time trying to not scrape my face with the tab. I thought that was so strange. Then it just went away one day?

I do feel the form of the release is a little different from glove to tab. Especially feels different when starting out.

When I do shoot a tab I trim mine to about 3/16 to 1/4” away from the end of my finger tips when finger is curled as if you were gripping the bow string I tried thicker tabs in past and settled on a thin 1/8” thick cowhide that I use coconut oil on the face once every year keeps it slick and supple. I like to feel the bowstring one reason I like to shoot bare finger

I determine where to trim my tab by actually hooking my fingers on the string (at the 1st knuckle joint) and putting slight pressure on it as if I am starting to draw. That pretty much reveals just exactly how long my tab actually needs to be. I'd venture to say that a lot of guys could trim a substanial amount off their tab. There's no need to have it any longer than just enough to pad your fingers at the hook joint.

Maybe that’s been my tab issue all along. I have some Toelke tabs that are super slick fleece. Maybe I’ll trim them up and give them another go.

Fleece was good for heavy bows but they are to thick you really need to wear them down. Use to use them when silver arrow archery was in business I stop using them I like the old seal skin tabs they were slicker than snot
