As my season is close to ending and I start planning for next year I also like to see think of some goals. So for 2024 a few things I want to concentrate on are my target panic, my kids outdoor activities and getting more proficient on whitetail.
The most important things to me are my kids. They both have started to take more interest in the outdoors. They both will do 4H archery and I will be getting a few rifles for them to shoot and learn. I also will get them fishing more this summer. Then other goals are for me and I’ll get to them as best as I can.
What goals do you all have?

My first goal is shooting a late season deer. I can hunt into January, but I've only shot deer in earlier seasons. Need to do more work finding where they move to browse later in the winter I think?

I also need to spend more time scouting for gun season next year. Only got out once during the season this year and hadn't scouted at all so limited options=was with too many people. Need to figure out some different spots so that if the parking lot is full I can move around and figure out some places not as many people go.

Edit: read this as deer goals lol. I've got some personal ones as well, signed up for a local marathon next year and am getting back in shape, and am hoping to do a bunch of work on my house as well.

To shed 50 pounds off my total setup. 40 of that being off myself of course. Started a new job early last year and put on almost 30 pounds due to poor diet and increased time driving. Knees really felt it this hunting season.
The other weight I hope to ditch through 2TC. Gonna start practicing as soon as season breaks, hope this also helps a bit with the weight loss. Was thinking about diving into this season but didn’t want to throw something new into the mix while season was ongoing.

Deer wise, scout, scout, and scout some more post season. You can never know the woods too well or have too many options. We still have the rest of December and all of January to go before this season ends so I hope to drop several more deer. I plan to keep dialing in the ground hunting and I plan to keep getting better with the longbow.

Not sure where you live, but look up S3da Archery. For kids of all ages up to senior in High school. I have both my daughters shooting it going on 5 yrs now. Its a Blast!!! They look forward to the National shoots and hangin out with all the friends from other clubs they have made.

My main goal is getting my "kankle" fixed. Staring at a fusion, gonna suck! Really limited my running around in the woods because of it. We did a 10 mile hike out of the bottom of the Grand canyon after a rafting trip... think that finally killed my ankle.

Onward!

Just continue refining my stand locations by scouting intensely this off season. There was at least 5 times I was in the right location, on the wrong day. Hunted a spot 1 day, saw a few dinks, the very next day a giant was there on cam. Just keep refining

I try to break my goals down into categories, so here they are:
Archery
1. Continue to shoot all year
2. Participate in another 3D league
3. Replace bow string, and arrows(moving to 5mm)

Hunting
1. Kill a damn turkey with my bow
2. Continue to learn the land I hunt
3. Scout a swamp on the land I hunt better
4. Kill a mature buck (my best to date seems to have been around 3 to 4)

Fishing
1. Continue to learn fly fishing
2. Get better at reading water
3. Get better at casting

Work
1. Retire in September 2024

If you retire January 1st you’ve already checked off nearly 10% of your entire list and eliminated a whole category while you still have 364 days to go. Pretty big category too so you’ll free up a bunch of time to work toward the other ten. You’re welcome!

Hunting:
Scout more. I've started marking areas in OnX to scout already.
Linked with above, find a shed
Kill a deer with my crossbow (trying late season here!)
Get my daughters on turkeys this spring (2 is a bigger challenge than 1)
Buy a new rifle, I want a bigger caliber for public land around here.

Fishing:
Ice fish more
Spring coho out of the kayak
Summer kings out of the kayak

I maybe retired soon. Injured and the city sucks as an employer. Hopefully!!!
