Some of you guys are either outlaws or do not work to kill as many deer as you do. Or you have the dream job. Lol
I switched back to COC and have never been happier. I was pretty sick after losing a very nice buck to a mech failure. As some will tell you, shot angle, catch a rib, only one blade deploys, 400 grain arrow and the arrow will do a funky do. I never believed it and said BS many times but then it happened. I watched as the funky do happened at 17 yards and the arrow took a hard turn and came out the guts just before the rear legs.
Fast forward to another hard angle buck at 27 yards on high alert, he just about ran over me. I was grunting on the ground. He did not make it 20 yards. Blood trail was awesome.
Magnus Broadheads are awesome heads. I am spot on at 60 yards but I limit my shots to 30 and under.
Some of you guys may not be getting good blood trails for the fact you are shooting them to far back in the lungs with a COC. If you aim forward and hit the pumper, then it is full throttle on the pump flow. Even a Mech will not give good blood trail if you do not hit the pump switch.
This year I am going even heavier, I am going from 435 to 550. And I will still be at approx 310 fps.
I do not want to drop below 280 fps, so I can go as high as 700 grain arrow. That is if my math is correct. Chrono 400 grain arrow at 341 fps, lose 1 fps per 5 grains of arrow weight. So I should be safe to add 300 grains to the total arrow weight and stay around 280 fps
