I'd like to have a set but refuse to pay that

I used to have a set when I had a tree saddle and sold them with the saddle, but I won't that much either. It's going to be Cranford rope steps on a strapworks strap and boat buckle for me.

Some have had issues with the hooks bending, depending on how the strap is routed. If you have access to a mill, look at my post in the DIY section.

Should the strap be routed behind or over the post with the hooks? I like the router idea, just need to get a router. Thanks for the tips!

Those slots were not put in with a router, my comment was about routing the belt around the steps if you dont have slots. I had my steps slotted on a bridgeport(big mill).

Sorry for the confusion, I watched a video about a DIY slot cutting machine using a router.

My question was about how to route the strap through the Cranford steps to avoid bending the hooks? Behind or over the post?
Thanks.

I don't know if there really is a good way. I do not know of anyone who has tried this and continued to use it unfortunately.

Is there a better option for a strap on platform for $50 or less? Luckily I haven't cut anything yet and can return stuff.

You can look at my thread on DIY steps out of a hawk helium stick. Other than that there are still not many options out there. If you decide to use the rope steps, you are better of putting 3 of them on the tree on their ropes as is and overlapping the ropes. Trying to do more than that would be too much though.

No one seems to sell the single Helium stick anymore, even Hawk. :(

Yea, they used to be. Maybe they will restock at some point.
