Going to Joplin to visit my daughter in the next three weeks…. hottest time to go down there….. anyway we were thinking of stopping at the Wonders of Wildlife exhibits in Springfield ….but holy smackers…. It’s expensive!! Those that have been to it, is it worth it or not??? We’re NOT the types that enjoy the “Disney Experience” or overly commercialized things…..

I live about 3 hours east of Springfield. I have never been to the Wonders of Wildlife exhibit because of the high price. When I make my way to Springfield, I usually just go to Bass Pro and to Grizzly tools.

Went through it once, it's impressive. There's nothing overly commercialized about it, that's all next door. There's a lot to look at, I went through it with my wife and kids and felt rushed because my kids were 4&7 and didn't care to linger the way I would have liked to. Not sure I'll spend the money to go trough it again, if I do it will be when the kids are older and it'll be the only thing on the schedule for either all morning or afternoon.

I second going to the outlet/return store, but do it first, never know what you'll find. Sometimes I never make it to the main store. It's the small building south of the main store on W Cherokee St.

I’ve been a few times and would go back again. It seems like I always miss something. Be sure to check out the outlet store too. And it’s hot here so any indoor activity is a good idea. I’m about 45 minutes from Joplin.

Yeah straight up melt weather has for sure set in now. Went out to clean up downed limbs from the storm last night and in 15 minutes I smell like I have been workin cattle all day and completely sweated thru my clothes. I hate this part of the year.

Thats all the memories I have visiting family in Southern Mo in August. Buggy, Hot, sticky, buggy. Did I say buggy? I would be itching those stupid jigger bites for a month. They love out of state blood.

I live in southeast Missouri and know what you mean about those nasty chiggers. Take a Bic lighter and light it, turn it sideways and heat the steel casing a little. Not too hot that it will burn you but hot enough for a good sting. Then push the steel casing against the chigger bite and hold it there for a few seconds. It will desensitize the chigger bite and stop the itch.

Now you tell me. Where were you 30 years ago with that? Does permethrin block them?

I would sneak off and scout some wma's and let them go to Morris Mart if they want too.
Secretly that’s kind of my plan. I would like to come down during our NY gun season and bowhunt here and try to see my daughter close up to the holidays.

I have been to the wonders of wildlife museum and aquarium and I will gladly go back again. Worth every bit to me I went when the aquarium I believe was just being finished up and from what I can tell they’ve added more to it since. But also just the store Itself is also a Museum in it self free of charge (minus the shopping bill at the end). But if you don’t mind the drive Rogers sporting goods store is up west side of state I believe in Kansas City also really cool to go too. Their main goods is duck hunting but they have much much more stuff there too tree stand, fishing gear ,blinds etc.
