Hey guys! I am a new hunter at 26 years old, the first and only in my entire family and friends. I'm from Rockland County hunting squirrels and rabbits for the past 2 years and got lucky with my first doe this year. Hoping to get my first bowhunting and saddlehunting deer next season!

Would be awesome to meet some of you if you are in my area!

Welcome from Otsego County. Not too terribly far from you i think..Congrats on the first deer and good luck with bowhunting. That will be trickier for sure, but also more rewarding,at least that's what i think.

Hey man I'm in orange county, Middletown area. If you are up this way, probably 25 mins let me know.

Hey that would be great. I've been scouting some select parts of sterling forest after the season closed and just found my first shed this weekend. I want to start branching out to other public like Stewart forest and Bashakill. Doing anything these next couple weekends?

Thanks man! There is absolutely so much to learn. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to even find deer in the woods. Tbh I got super lucky with the doe. I was just there at the right time. Next season I want to actually put what I've been studying to work, grind to scout and find sign, and actually earn the deer. It's the only thing I can think about now lol.

A lot of hunting will still be about the right spot at the right time. Even the best hunters dont see deer every time they are out. The hottest sign might not get visited the day you are there. But learning anything you can about deer and their habits will increase your chances for sure.

Love the fingerlakes. I'm a beer drinker, but they have some damn good Rieslings over there.

Post season is a great time to get out and scout! By the fall, the deer will have forgotten about you, if you kick any up, etc...

I'm from Orange County (currently north of Syracuse but am moving back at some point) and my in-laws live near Stewart Forest. I've considered hunting it when we visit them.
