H2 Saddle

Hmmm so does the sitdrag…must be the struggles of a small business I know I have encountered plenty in owning mine.

The sitdrag doesn’t have dedicated lineman loops like the H2. The H2 has dedicated loops, bridge loops and a rated buckle...Small business or not, could certainly be disastrous for both parties.

He knows what it is going to used for by people and is playing to that use.

I completely understand your point of view but I have to play devils advocate here and ask when tax time comes around do you play to the uses of our tax system for your advantage or do you disregard any credits that could save you a dollar

True. And that last sentence: "saddle hunters used it for non-approved purposes."
I think is why they put the "for ground use only" line in. Not because we are a reckless bunch but because people use things for unintended purposes all the time. Sometimes after doing the research and being safe and sometimes because they are lazy or lack common sense.

I don't know this guy although I imagine they are a member here somewhere. To their credit some testing has been done. But I agree with @Bwhana if you are going to continue with this then so should the testing and seeking some level of certification and getting insurance etc..

If I went with one I would test it myself same as we should all be doing with all our mods and gear anyway. Starting at the ground and moving up.

I guess at the end of the day I am putting faith in someone on here, based on my experience with most people on here, that they aren't bull ****ting us and trying to screw us around. And if they are a dyed in the wool decent person making a good product I wish them success. With above caveats of course.

I tested my evolution at the ground my LW sticks at the ground and would do the same with this. Likely more actually with this.

That is about $, this is literally someone's life on the line, so I don't cut them any slack for that reason. I personally had an opportunity to start selling a "ground use only" product, but chose the higher ground. I have advised several members here to not buy one of his saddles and get a commercial model. I will continue to do so, but again, if anyone wants to roll the dice on one, it is their choice. This is not a personal slant on Heath, don't know him and he is likely a standup guy. This is just a warning, especially to newbies who will go this route to save a few $ and unknowingly incur risk as a result.

Not arguing, but it should be made clear that rated or not, insured or not, the results of an accident or negligent use of any product are the same. The risk is yours to take. Educate yourself, mitigate your own factors, and for the love of God man, BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOUR OWN DECISIONS & ACTIONS.

If you think an insurance claim will bring you back to life, make you walk again, console your family, or otherwise make you whole then you are a fool. If you believe some kind of rating is a guarantee of safety then you are a fool. Be smart, weigh your options, evaluate your risks, and consider the consequences. Armed with good data and an IQ greater than room temperature, most of us navigate though our lives every day in relative safety. Tree saddles are no different. Kinda like walking briskly with scissors.

Couldn’t help myself. Ordered one. I’m not in the least worried about the safety. The load testing and testimonials have me more than confident in it. I was torn between it and waiting to get a flex but I couldn’t resist. I liked that I could order a size small and not so much a one size fits most. Got it with the leg straps. Says about 17 days to delivery. I’m using a sit drag and rch now. I’ll keep everyone post when it comes and maybe try to do a video review. He was super fast with response in questions I had.

I see why one would be concerned... but honestly, I feel that way about everything. Idk who stiched my kestrel or who assembled my car. I know stuff happens.... hopefully I’m not the one or any of you. Anything I can do DIY I will because it gives me faith in it!

I’m sure it is safer than my Sit & Drag that I’ve hunted from for 3 years without an RC harness........

................................................................................All climbing methods, platforms, saddle designs, and/or use of materials possibly mentioned in the post above are not peer reviewed for safety, and should only be used as an example of my own method. Do your own research and testing before becoming confident in any DIY solution to support your life.

It is hard to take some of the trash talkers seriously, especially when they keep popping up around H2 saddle post. But are quiet around people selling used gear, diy post that void any warranty on equipment.

I’m confused...but I am being serious.

It does seem that some are critical of the H2 saddles and then don’t comment on the other things. Hell, my 5 step aider at 10+ feet is way more dangerous than the saddle. I’m attached to the tree but still it takes practice and athleticism to do it. I feel the saddle is by far safe to use.

or quido's web with generic plastic buckles, maybe rated for 200lbs and that is when new.

I think they are critical because of the “ground use only” disclaimer. H2 saddle is what $165? A “rated” saddle (kite and Mantis) is $34 more than the H2? My sit drag has the same disclaimer and it cost $25

Don’t get me wrong I like the looks and am seriously considering buying one but when you look at the perceived safety factor of the other saddles for such little more money they win.

It’s truly hard to recommend a non rated saddle to a new saddle hunter. I do it I even recommend a sitdrag but I’m pretty much alone.

Could you define "Rated"?

This saddle looks like the Kestrel and the Mantis went on a date, leaving the Kite all alone to blow their cellies up to find out which movie they didn’t invite Kite to, then Kestrel and Mantis had a very whose-last-name-is-she-taking post-date encounter.

I can’t find the Aerohunter rating maybe I was wrong but I don’t see either company saying “ground use only?”
Maybe you can find that for me? Prove me wrong.
