Hey guys, new to the forum and have been doing my research for the last six months or so but was curious if anyone had some comparisons between the h2 slingshot and the AH flex. I am 6’1 255 with a 38” waist so trying to figure out what would fit best since I have yet to find any to try out. The flex seems to be the go to saddle for big guys now but the h2 is more economical and minus the lineman’s loops rates up there with all the big names. Appreciate the help everyone.

I did use the search function and couldn’t find anything specifically on the topic.

I'm about the same size as you .I cant speak about the H2 but I have a flex and it is a great saddle .I just ordered a cruzer xc been doing alot of research on it and it has positive reviews

A cruzr or flex will be better. Nothing wrong with an H2 it is comfortable for me but the other two are better for a big guy.
A 38 waist the H2 will work fine but the other two are better built and heavier but more expensive and more comfortable. The H2 has reasonable comfort and is lighter and is less expensive.
The cruzr would be my first choice.

i have seen the cruzr just recently and haven’t gotten as much info on it as the others. It’s a new company right. Everyone’s reviews on it are very good and I am interested. Appreciate the help

And it seems since Saturday there was a rush on cruzrs because the XC is sold out haha

Buy a used flex from a new Cruzr customer. A good saddle but so is the H2. I bet Aerohunter will soon have a mesh flex soon.
Or just wait for a Cruzr. The Cruzr is about the same width as an H2 but the XC is much deeper even when the pleat is not open.
This is a picture of the H2 sitting on top of a Cruzr

I am 6’6” 260, I’ve been told I’m in the big guy class lol. I went with the JX3 and really like it but I feel it’s a little busy for quick hunts. All day sets is where it shines, so after a lot of research I ordered an H2. Haven’t received it yet but will report back after I get to use it some.

Even when the pleat is closed the Cruzr is 2 inches deeper

I’m even a little bit taller and wider 40” than you and use the flex size 2. Playing with all kinds of saddles at our meetup in NC before Covid, I found it to be my personal best choice and would buy it again to replace it in the event of damage or loss. I’m hunting in NC and Alabama but don’t feel the need for a mesh version.

Good choice too.

I would think with a 38 inch waist, a size 1 would fit best. I have a 36 to 38 inch waist. I bought an Aero Evo in size 2 but it was so big the climb paws came up too high and dug into my ribs. I sewed it smaller with my Speedy Stictcher and it fits much better. If you want to try what I have let me know. We could meet at Evansburg.

In my opinion, it's much more comfortable to have a slightly bigger saddle than one that is slightly too small.... but like with anything here, it's all about personal preferences.

Those aluminum climb paws caused a slight bone bruise after an hour. I stopped hunting from a tree that day and did a still hunt.

I'm not sure if I know what climb paws are... and how they have anything to do with a saddle...

i really like my h2, im probably around that 250 weight range as well.

Appreciate all the responses guy.... it’s tough to get a good idea and plan accordingly when I don’t have any hands on experience but a ton of research. I would say I have an ample backside so the pleat really appeals to me on the flex, specially with the extra 2 inches compared to the H2 that Ontariofarmer mentioned. But going the h2 route let’s me purchase a solid well reviewed saddle along with a higher end platform so I can practice with the full set up prior to season.

then I get into all the add ons I would want with an h2 such as stiffening up the lineman loops, adding Prusik knot guide, back support, and Molle bags..... does the cost savings actually exist..... as you can see I’m just going down a rabbit hole.

the lineman loops on the h2 are a bit floppy, but can be fixed pretty simply with a zip tie if you wanted to.

For back support what i do is i have 2 little paracord accessory cords, cheap 50lb little carabiners i picked up from walmart for like $2 and a piece of strap that has 2 sewn loops on each end. i prusik the little paracord and carabiners to my bridge and run the strap around my back. weighs like an ounce and does just fine for supporting my back for longer sits
