Hamskea drop away

I’ll be honest. I haven’t shot a Mathew’s in years because I felt like it was going to jerk my shoulder out of socket letting it down. I hate a Mathew’s draw cycle. Just so rough with a short valley. I’m weird I guess. I find prime and xpedition much easier in the comfort level. Glad it worked out.

And you aren't gaining that much speed with that jerky draw because those rough spots on the draw curve do not add much to the area under the draw force curve. A super smooth versus a jerky bow is like 15 fps with the same arrow. That's usually around a 5% increase in speed, which is negligible. I'd rather shoot a 5 inch brace height than a bow with no valley and a hump that makes the bow jumpy.

I shoot a Hamskea Trinity Pro and the small amount of additional arrow movement isn't an issue for me. I just make sure anywhere a nocked arrow can touch anything loud is covered with stealth strips. Letting down is easy if you aren't overbowed. I'm underbowed on purpose. The only thing I don't like about letting down is the close to 90% let off on my bow makes the shoulder muscles disengage and then re-engage as the cam rolls over and this can cause the head of the humerus to move in the joint. This isn't affected by the arrow rest though.

The only other rest I'd consider is a vapor trail. I'll never shoot a QAD again unless forced to use my backup bow.
If I could get more guys here to understand the term “ over-bowed” I would be excited. If I or my son or nephew or any one that will listen. Would follow this. Sit on a stool with your feet dangling. Draw slowly and smoothly not to bounce the arrow off the rest. If they can’t turn it down. I’m a big guy and can draw 80# bows but I don’t. I shoot between 50 and 60. I prefer 50 and would turn it down to 40 if I wasn’t getting such great arrow flight out of my target bow. My hunting bow is set at 60 with a 388 arrow for speed otherwise I’d turn it down to 50 and shoot a heavy arrow

When you draw the bow, it should not look like you are exerting yourself.

Amen. It should look effortless and smooth. When your not over bowed. Your more controlled and I believe more confident. When it all feels good your shoot good

This makes setting up certain rest and their applications easier to use. My opinion.

Everyone now thinks they should be pulling at least 70 lbs. This is a touchie subject because people take it akin to being called weak in public. It's not.

I'd suggest pulling significantly less than your max pull. I haven't tried it, but I'm fairly confident that I could pull a 90 lbs compound bow (at least once), but I shoot 60 lbs because it is just a joy to shoot and hunt with and I'm interested in keeping my joints in great shape as I age.
I’m 6’5, 240, NFL tight end build and strength. I still pull 65 for the same reason and shoot heavier arrows (different thread, I know!) and chrono around 250fps which I know kills everything from the east coast to west coast of the US. I agree with you one hundred percent.

I shoot 57lbs. That Mathew’s just jumped on the let down though. The Hoyt is much more tame.

I had a heli-m that was like being hooked to a drag car. Just vicious take off at let down. Now I would have another z7 I did really like that one.

I’ve always shot 70 lb + bows, soon as I get a chance I’m taking mine back to the local shop and having them turn it down, and a couple of other things, I’m over it, my son will probably start shooting some in the lawn with me this summer and I just want to have fun again, cranking on that SOB isn’t always enjoyable after a long day of work. Being confident in one’s equipment with lots of practice is way more important than being some goon trying to muscle something back all the time.

Keep Hammering. I should patent that.

Wow. So I put this thing on my bow today. I was a little reluctant at first. The whole limb drive thing. But gotta say. Pretty sweet. I replaced my strings. But Haven't paper tuned yet. But seems pretty simple. Getting some shots in before I work on paper.
Only complaint is the bolt was super short. Like 2 maybe 3 threads are into the riser. I know it's just an arrow rest. But seems short. I used my old bolt. The rest was second hand to me. So not 100% sure it's the right one. Any thoughts?

Not the right one. Definitely use your old one.
