Hawk helium sticks

Oh yeah, I'm gonna like these. I had to build a new post, but that's ok. This is awesome and with two wraps, it stays really tight.

Time to update all my platforms. Once again you guys are costing me more money.

I've had some success with spraying the rope man and biner with self etching primer in a flat of green. Stays on pretty good

Looks great Ernie. I usually wrap the tag end around the rope around the tree and pull it right against the stick. Which size did you end up getting? I’m getting ready to build some ultralight sticks and plan on giving up some weight for these. So worth it.

Yeah...I'd definintely put a couple of half hitch loops in it to secure it down. I've been using cam cleats and amsteel blue on my sticks for 4 seasons now and it's the only way to go. I've never had the slightest issue so far.

Yeah I'm not really sure which size I got, but I'm going back to get more this week. I can tell you they take #10 screws. I'll let you know when I get back to the store.

Yeah the half hitches for safety are part of my plan.

Thanks. I didn’t know if they were medium or small. Are you using 1/4”amsteel?

They are Ronstan cam cleats, and total weight per stick with the rope and mods is 2.9lbs. I am using 1/4" amsteel for the ropes. I stack the middle one upside down and it balances out perfectly.

So did you drill through the side channel to feed the rooe through? Can you explain what you did with that process?

Please be very careful with amsteel passing through tube. I can see that getting nicked from sharp edges?

Yep. If you look, there is a hole on the other side. I added that hole larger than the one the rope is going through so I could deburr and chamfer the hole from the inside. Smooth edges on both sides of the wall the amsteel is passing through.

put a nycoil hose or similar on the rope where it goes through the ppost

That's correct. I used a larger bit than the size of the amsteel to help feed it through. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that small cross piece of metal in the center tube. Start with a very small bit and try and dead center that brace. The first ones I did, I missed the center piece about half way through and now I have a slightly crooked hole through it. If you have access to a drill press that would be the best. Once you have the hole drilled through, take a round file and smooth off all of the burs l. Also, I put some of that heat shrink around the amsteel and melted it down to help with the possible abrasion.

How did you go about getting these camo dipped? Never heard of that before other than coming off the shelf like that. Those babies are sweet looking!

Ya, that dip is SWEET! I wonder if you could find a strata pattern in hydro dip film....?

I've seen a lot of patterns but I'm here to tell everyone, in my opinion, I don't believe I've ever seen a pattern better for climbing sticks. They absolutely disappear with the tree bark style pattern.
