i've looked for this also, the fenix lamps i linked above only go up to like 5 lumens in red, despite white being over 1,000....weird to me but maybe it is a heat issue (?)

i've fallen in holes and gotten my eyes poked with sticks, so i navigate in the dark with actual substantial light

I have no idea. I'd assume an e-mail or call and they'd answer your questions. I have 2 of their red lights for coyotes and they are impressive.
 
Eneloop AA's and AAA's work great as rechargeable batteries. I don't understand the need to buy a headlamp just for a 18650 battery.

I am a big fan of the Eneloop cells too. The only thing I don't like them for is game cams. If I tended my cameras more often I think they would be fine but 3-4 months is too much for them.

This is the best answer. Like you, I was bummed about not having a red light BUT with the awesome user interface you can customize your light output. I haven’t missed that red light at all. It’s really a great headlamp.

I'm on my 2nd and it is not worth a flip either. Poor battery life and the green light will only run a few mins on med. and dims down to its lowest setting. I hate both of them.......

Been looking at the Coast Headlamps. May pull the trigger on one of those before next season.

My first two were the all black ones, the third one was the black/white one. It seems to be doing better, also using lithium batteries in it.
 
I know, right?....silly peeps who like to have a hands free light source....idiots

I've had the cyclops 1 I posted the link to for about a week and used for various tasks around the house (putting stupid Christmas decorations into the attic) and so far so good. I have half a dozen cyclops regular headlamps and I've had really good luck with them in the past...as long as the "conductive touch" part of the light is as good a quality as the other push button versions it should be a really good light....try as I might I can't get it at accidently turn on. No red option maybe a negative for some of u but I rarely use the red option when I had it available....
 
I have a headlamp (think it is a petzl) that stays in my backpack as a backup but my main light to get into and out of the woods is what I carry all the time with me. I bought a Streamlight Microstream USB about 4 years ago and carry it all the time in my right front pant pocket. The little light is bright, holds a charge really well and I forget I have it with me. I don't know how I went all those years without carrying a light. I bet there isn't a day that goes by that I don't use it. For hunting I either carry it, usually cupping it in my hand going in to regulate the brightness and clipped to my cap's brim on the way out after dark. I keep a charging cord in the vehicle but rarely need it.

I have the blood tracker head lamp and I store it upside down in my right dump pouch when I’m not using it. I’ve never had it accidentally turn on but it takes a pretty deliberate push of the button to cycle the lights off and on.
