Helium Stick Modification - a closer look

I don't see where the Hawk Helium climbing sticks are available for sale anywhere. Even their web site says they are not available.

Less people are carrying them. Might be one of those great items that wont be available any longer. Look around, somebody will have some in stock.

I sent an email to them too.

Same with Leverage sticks. I don't know if they were the same stick with a different name but they looked very similar.

Man I hope the heliums aren't discontinued. I don't plan on using sticks for a few seasons, but I wouldn't mind another few sets just in case.

Can you fill me in on what is a "Cranford Rope Step"?
Not sure if you have any unanswered questions left. These are the cranford rope steps.

Ah, thanks. I've seen these before, just didn't know what they were called. Thanks again. I think all my questions have been answered to this point. I appreciate it. I'm looking forward to getting myself going with this hunting method!

Trying to switch over from LW to the heliums. I did the versa button rope mod. I'm having issues with the bottom portion of the stick pulling away from the tree. Has anyone else had this issue? Thinking I might need to move the versa button lower? Love the two steps, but cant have the stick kicking out. I'm 210lbs, and used the LW for 6-7, haven't had them kick out.

Thanks,

post a pic can't say without sking your set up. if you are seeing stick correctly bottom should never pull out.... top might if the te is not round, but not bottom

Dave,
New here and looking for some help... I have some helium sticks on their way to my house as we speak, I also have 1/2" rope already, will that work or is it too large in diameter? Also, how long are your rope sections on each stick?

Thanks in advance!!

not sure about 1/2 as I've never used it, probably eould work but way overkill IMO. My ropes are about 5 foot, I do have a 8 foot set for certain trees

Thanks for the quick reply! I went and looked again. It's only rated for 200lbs so I won't be using that. Where is a good site to order rope from? Can't afford to do amsteel right now unfortunately

Wespur I would think would have anything you need? I only use amsteel sp can't really comment on other ropes

Amsteel is a brand of Dyneema rope. This is the same rope used as steel cable replacement in winches. You can buy a 50’ of 12 strand 1/4” dyneema winch rope on Ebay for $21. I have some on order now to compare to actual Amsteel 1/4” rope.
