Help choosing correct saddle

You will like it. I have spent a lot of time in mine over the years

Well guys I am jumping into the saddle crowd. I purchased the Guidos Web today! I know some think it may be too restrictive but I talked to the owner who is a real nice guy and he said they changed the tether system and included a bridge with this system 2 years ago so I thought I should give it a try especially with its comfort. If needed I may need some help from others here on modifications if I think they may be necessary. Some of my brothers think I'm crazy but I'm hoping to be the crazy one behind a big deer this year and then see what they say. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

The simplest way to fix that is to keep the Guido's Web bridge until you know that YOU don't like it. I have actually used it with the Web and this off season with other saddles. There is nothing wrong with that bridge after the change you reference. For the tether if you want to go with a rope, you can order this and you'll need nothing else. But I will try to talk you into a Ropeman.

I personally use these ropes with a Ropeman 1 as my tether for the Web. And yes, I'm ordering some 'fancy' rope this year and everyone else will be able to tell you better ways for them. I'm just offering the above as something I have used with the Web, a manufacturer made for this purpose and can get you into a rope tether for less than $20 with only a two day wait. PM me if you want to talk any more about the specifics or ropeman etc... I can tell you what worked for me.

I use that same HSS rope with a ropeman for my tether. Doesn't pack very well but I still like it.

Have you contacted hss about their rope and who makes it? Its intended to never see load, but if you do fall it will keep you from hitting the ground. I have a harness rope similar from LW and flat spotted it in one 5min hang via the ropeman1 and vowed to never use it again. Hss rope might be ok, but if you haven't I would ask them.

I hung in mine for hours and don't plan to replace any for this season based on how they look and feel.

I've used mine for three years now. No flat spots because of the ropeman. But thanks for the head ups though. Didn't know that

Hey Im all for cheaper solutions guys, was curious if you had contacted them. In the q&a section of amazon I see several people stated 1000lb rating with 300lb limit. Not sure how accurate those are, but sounds like working load limit of 300lbs. The assault line many of us use has a rating of 7679lbs with a working limit of 512lbs. I contacted Doug at bluewater last November and he explained. They use a 15:1 ratio to get their working load rating. So if the hss rope is 300lbs working load its 4500lb tensile or if its 1000lb tensile its working load would be 67lbs. The latest rope that Red and others are using is 3/8" ultra-tech. Its got a rating of 10000lbs and using the bluewater ratio has a 667lb rating.
A quick search shows you can get the bluewater line for $1.05 per foot. The prussic and carabiner from Hss probably isn't the greatest either. It seems the assault line is cheaper and you know what your getting which should add piece of mind.

Ultra tech is $1.49 per foot.

Yeah I'm thinking of switching would I order some line for a platform. I don't use the carabiner that came with it because it seemed to weigh a damn pound by itself. Thanks for the help

Yep, I already have some samson ultra tech on the way.

The HSS rope above is the same one they use for a 30' drop. I never felt unsafe in it. I jumped and let myself fall almost 2 feet with it before I would let myself climb my first tree.
No - I don't still use that specific rope. That was tester before I ever got off the ground last year.
But that's not scientific or including any numbers. I'm mainly switching for the weight. Those HSS weigh more than my bow when they are wet.
