Hi All,
Long time lurker for the past 2 seasons but already recognize this as one of the best forums on the net- so much good helpful advice. I've been hunting from a saddle for the past two seasons, this year pretty much exclusively aside from one sit and love the system. It was a quick learning curve about what a saddle offers, where you can set up, and how to approach deer vs an old treestand mentality and I love it. I started deer hunting about 30 years ago and bow hunting not far from that, but living internationally for 12 years put the kibosh on that. I've gotten back into the the past 3 seasons. Last season was a rough one for me, hitting two deer and recovering zero. But I know my mistakes and have worked some things out now.
I'm in north-ish NJ (between I78 and I80) and mostly hunt public land (WMA and township lands), though I have about 3 acres of my own behind the house that is available to me (and draws the bucks when the rut starts kicking off). I'd love to meet up with other NNJ saddle hunters and compare setups. I'm using 4x full length Heliums and a predator XL platform. Its a good setup, but I'm glad I'm not hiking in miles like some of you.
thanks
rick
