Hickory Creek Koolaid

Buy it man. The vertical aspect is an all around plus. Never having to worry about a shooting lane because of your width of your limbs. I have 3 crossbows an 2 never leave the wall anymore. The mini is my go to unless I am in a ground blind and my crossbow is on my tripod.

All pros.
1. Being abe to cock it without an aider.
2. Being able to cock it in the tree for a second deer.
3. Using real arrows instead of bolts.

Upgrades
1. Red Dot
2. Quiver
3. Camo tape/paint job. I hate anything shiny in the woods.
4. Slid an AR handle over the trigger handle. (Fills my hand now)

Con
1. Still haven't found a great way to carry to the stand. I have tried clipping it to my chest, pack, slings.... Still carry it by handle.

Looks like I'll probably be shooting the mini more at the beginning of this season, I gave myself archers elbow/tendonitis from shooting my new 70 lb bow (I guess the jump from 55 to 70 was too quick for my tendons ugh) and I'm having a hard time getting rid of it. Hopefully I'll be able to get it resolved by September but it's nice having the backup option.

OK....one is on the way.....took big gulp of the kool-aid...LOL. Well, using the arrows that comes from Jerry, what is the best idea for broadheads? Broad question but I have several slick trick mag 100s, but do ya'll think that that's a good setup for flight and penetration?

I shot a doe last winter with the mini with stock arrows with slick trick viper trick 100 gr. head. She couldn't have been more dead. The setup flew good when I was testing them out on target

It's worth every penny.

It has arrived! So far...awesome! Set at 125....anyone leave it 125? If so, what is the penetration with fixed broadheads? I do like the ability to cock it by hand at 125. Recommendations?

For realsies...I think that for me the mini is a bigger advantage than a saddle. It's basically a crossbow with the packability and handling of something like a gearhead bow. All those critters in the first post were taken in one year. I missed 2 more does on the first few hunts due to operator error. The mini is deadlier on deer than the interstate system and CWD combined
Is yours set at 150....or maximum?

I have mine set at 150 lbs. I use a piece of leather on the string to cock it as suggested by someone else on this thread. I'm no Hercules but I can get the string back without too much difficulty

For Nutterbuster....

I think I sent it to @Nutterbuster set at 125# but don’t quite remember

Hopefully he’ll see this and update us on his preferred poundage now that he’s been slaying with it for several yrs

I know at 125 it was a sweet shooter and easy to cock and uncock but may have turned it up before I sent it to him

I’m able to cock mine by hand in the tree in a saddle on a ring of steps at 150. I didn’t notice a big difference turning it down in terms of difficulty.

I wouldn’t want to do it 10 times in a tree, but then again, I’ve never cocked it more than twice in a tree.

You could say you want it easier to practice, but that’s the point of the mini. You don’t need practice…. Dial it down to sight in and line everything up. Crank it up and adjust for faster speed. Hunt. You’ll cock it once or twice at most during a hunt.

I've only shot it around 10 times....LOL , but smooth like it is....I may mark where it is and try it. I've got one hand missing some of the full fingers so I may find some leather and make a cocker..LOL I think I am going really like it! All hail mini...LOL

I keep mine at #150. No problems cocking and un-cocking. There's kind of a technique to cocking it though. If you put your thumbs across the string right next to the d-loop and pull straight back it with equal force on both hands, it helps.

Two questions:
Can anybody direct me to how to tune a nock left / right tear?… not sure compound bow process applies.

And has anybody found a good way to hang it once in the tree? I really want to trust whatever I use with that bad larry cocked next to me.

Paper tuning for the mini is the same as for a compound bow.

As far as hanging it, I hang mine on the left side of the tree right at where the string rolls off of the cam when cocked. That way it's in a position as close as possible to "ready' when a deer walks out.
