I am looking at doing my own tether and and lineman’s belt with sterling oplux. I don’t want a mechanical ascender, but I can’t find eye to eye hitch cord that will work on 8mm rope. Anyone have any idea where I can get some?

As of now, you'll have to tie knots to create an eye-to-eye hitch cord. We haven't been able to find a spliced/sewn one. You can use the Beal Jammy or Wild Edge offers one - The T-Vac ... both those are sewn continuous loops.

Okay thanks man.

I'm guessing the shortest one 35cm is the most popular... IMO the way to go on the tether.
However, a distel or schwabisch is easier to release/manage, which those require the eye-to-eye... also good options for tether.

That is why I’m looking for eye to eye. I am wanting a schwabisch.

The 35cm Beal Jammy does work and is plenty strong for our uses. I just found that it bound up too tight on Oplux and was harder to release after being weighted on my tether. I switched to a distel using Sterling 6mm TRC and that was a night and day difference. The schwabisch is very close to the same thing and I've heard works great too - its just harder to pronounce and spell so I always recommend the distel. For an autoblock the Jammy does great.

What knots did you tie of the TRC to make the loops for the distal? Or does it even matter as long as the loops are tied

You may have already read through these but both were a good discussions of different ropes/knots used and lengths of rope needed. Good luck, very happy with the Oplux/TRC combo

Are the Sterling Hollow Blocks (6mm) safe for using on tether? Thought just for auto-bkock (hand break)?

I’m no expert but the Hollow block is just a loop. The hitch tied with it can be anything, including Prusik or French Prusik (autoblock)
