Hoist rope

I just use paracord with a small loop on one end to biner to my belt, and a larger loop on the other end that i stick through the riser and slip over my stabilizer. Can also be used as girth hitch on weapon end to attch to anything pretty much. Always good to have paracord around.

After one hunt with it I give 3/8” webbing two thumbs way up (1) easier on your hands up and down the tree with heavier gear and (2) does not tangle during storage or in brushy / twiggy areas around the tree base as bad as paracord.

And here’s a fun story, yesterday I grunted at a shooter buck and and doe, and the doe unfortunately led that buck to the base of my tree dead down wind and where I had no shot. Sorry gang 3 o’clock is my kryptonite in a Jx3 especially with the big vines hanging off this tree. As the buck walked away all I got was his butt in my good shooting lane. Half hour later they appear 300 yards away in the bean field, I decided to get down and attempt a stalk along a tree row. I sent my bow down and tossed the rope. I look up and that buck is now walking across the beans right at me. Yougottabekiddingme.com I look at my bow in terror. I need a HOOK. Thanks to the JX3 hands trembling and fumbling I whipped this thing up miraculously retrieved my bow and had an arrow knocked with the shooter at 40. Dang it, few little twigs across a lane at 25 yards where he paused. He walked on, end of story, heartbreak, but man that was a fun hour. At times I had to take deep breaths to get my heart rate down.

what kind of clip is that?

In the Walmart hardware area (not in the sporting goods), they sell a paracord type that comes in a camo weave and also seems slightly stiffer and slicker than usual (which seems to help with tangles). I wrap it in a figure 8 as has been shown already and I have overhand on a bight loops on each end. I wrap the ending of the figure 8 somewhat looser than most (no way it can lift bow) and leave the tag end a bit long (so it can clip to pack when rest is stuffed). The ending loop that is wrapped has a #2 S biner from nite ize and that is clipped to a compression strap on the side of my pack so the mess can't be lost. The loop that attaches to my bow has a #3 s biner and that and the figure 8 coil are stuffed gently in my side water bottle holder of my pack. It feeds incredibly smoothly out of that bottle holder and keeping it there is handy and means you can wrap it kinda loose so it feeds better.

I used a webbing Doyle's before and I much prefer this setup for many reasons (lighter, quieter, can easily feed out extra rope and go around branches, and when going down you can lower bow and then unclip the small s biner and drop the whole thing so you aren't tied to the bow when unneeded). The only downside is having to take a little care with what you do with cord upon pulling up the bow or you end up trying to lower your bow with a tangle, but the pros outweigh this.
