Hollow brand alpaca socks?

One minor complaint...someone in the sock manufacturing/shipping department wears cologne because I can smell it on my socks. The beanie is odorless but the socks have a slight smell of nasty perfume stentch. I'm sure they will air out but if I owned a clothing company, no employee would be permitted to wear perfume if they handle the products.
Minor rant.

My Hollow boot socks and beanie arrived today. The quality of both products out of the package seems top notch. The alpaca content of the socks are very high and I'm confident that they will probably be the warmest socks that I own. Time will tell how durable the socks will be.
The beanie is 100% alpaca which it should not be a durability issue in a hat. Its thick and warm. I'm confident that I will like it.

FYI; I wash my Hollow socks in a washing machine with a cold water soak with Sport Wash, I also throw them in the dryer on low... I'm two years deep (hunting use) and absolutely zero issues other than some fuzzing. I've had boots eat "regular" socks, but I no longer use boots with known issues for hiking, etc.

I'm I've been using other brands of alpaca for years and I have not had any issues with how I launder them. As far as drying goes, about the only things that I put in the dryer is cotton stuff. Wool, synthetics, anything with elastic or lycra goes on the clothes line to air dry. Dryers are hard on clothes. That's obvious to me when I pull the filter and toss into the trash what used to be part of the clothing. I'll never put high-end stuff in the clothes dryer.

I received an email from Hollow asking me for a review, which I gave an overall positive review. But I also mentioned the perfume odor on the socks right out of the package (the beanie was odor free). They replied back that the odor must have come after they left their facility during the shipping. That response is total crap. I know that smell. It's aftershave that whomever handled the socks at Hollow had on their hands when the packaged them for shipping. Hollow reminded me of their 30 day refund/exchange policy which is admirable, but I'm not gonna go thru the return process. I'll keep these and I'll get them deodorized by next hunting season. @yoda4x4 had the same type of odor on his socks. We all encounter someone who seems to bathe in perfumes of one sort or another. Shake their hand and now your hand smells like old spice for the rest of the day.
If I owned a company, especially one that sold outdoor gear, my policy would be "No scented or perfumed lotions, etc".
Ha, I wore those socks for 3 straight days, and as I typed that review I was wearing them and I could still smell aftershave on them. Time to go do laundry.

Fair enough! Although I do use my dryer on "tumble only" or "low" a lot lol, especially when I need to wash stuff that will be used the next morning! I probably should have mentioned that all my wool items are washed and/or dried (if in the dryer) in lingerie bags. Also, I will never overload the dryer, because I don't need it to run any longer than necessary (sensing cycle). I'd like to say I baby my hunting clothing, but I don't, other than following the care instructions on the label (mostly). My hunting wear and abrasion is way more than my dryer, I'm hoping lol. Well got mine in the mail yesterday quality is great but the beanie is phenomal and it fits perfect can’t wait to put it and the socks to the test in cold weather

i have had a pair for a few months, wore them for about 4 days just to see how they held up. no odor and stayed fluffy. im glad i bought them, mine did have a slight perfume scent, but it was a nice smell, i didnt worry about it at all, they are socks.

One of the older guys in the club I grew up in would use a 1/4 bottle of ice blue aqua velva as a cover scent when deer hunting. He killed deer occasionally, mostly at some distance with a rifle.

Just gone mine. First impression: the boot socks are thick and comfy, and are not short like one of the reviews had me worried about. Haven’t tried on the ski socks yet but if I knew the boot socks would fit this well I wouldn’t have bought those.
Undecided whether I like them as much as my merino people socks, they don’t feel as warm or quite as soft, though they look nicer. We’ll see if that changes and how they hold up.
Update: after wearing a pair a couple days(without washing yet) I can confirm they’re more comfortable than my merino socks- they fuzz up and get softer.

Got my boot and crew socks plus a beanie. There is no smell on any of my items. All items are comfortable and look great. The only thing I would change is ordering one size larger. I wear a size 10 boot, so I am on the upper end of the small range. I think medium would have worked better but these will work as there is no way I will send them back. Heck the wife may end up stealing them anyway.

Are the crew socks basically a thinner version of the boot sock? I don't want to order them and get something not fit for hunting and hiking.
