Bowhunter15 is using 1/4" Amsteel on his 1.5lb DIY climbing sticks. His Versa button is really just a 1/4 ×20 allen head bolt with a steel fender washer 1/4" × 1.25" or 1.5" and a steel spacer 1/4" ID x 1/2" OD x I believe its 3/8" or 1/2" wide so it squeezes on itself. I fabbed up a couple sticks based on his design. I am currently awaiting my Amsteel delivery so I can make some 2 step aiders and attach my tree strap ropes. Bowhunter15 has a build post on here. I also posted have a bunch of pics and info posted on the SH FB page.(Dave Ryan on SH FB page). I reinforced my steps and they are still under 2lbs. Heres a few pics.Cool, hopefully when things cool down @g2outdoors can chime and give us noobs some guidance, lol. I watched @bowhunter15s video on his DIY sticks and I think he used 1/4 amsteel with a button that looked pretty sweet, I'll probably try that, although @DaveT1963 said the amstel can get noisy after some wear, not sure, it's hard to argue with that weight and strength!
