How did you cook venison today?

@gcr0003 looks incredible. That’s how my wife first had venison and loved it. We do it a lot. “Sheppy’s” as it’s called around my house, is a sure fire way to shut up any picky eaters. “Oh I don’t like venison, it’s gamey”. Okay, put some Sheppy’s in front of them and BAM. They be like “this beef is so good!” And that’s how you get the high score.

Not cooking, but I'll be off to the grocery store shortly to get some ingredients for corned venison, I brought venison Reubens to Thanksgiving last year and had a request to do so again. Should have just enough time to brine if I get it going today.

I follow Hank shaw's recipe here - https://honest-food.net/corned-venison-recipe/

Edit: brine created, now just gotta let it cool and I'll be putting in both of the football roasts (sirloin) from my buck tonight, 6 lbs of meat total.

My wife said she was going to see her mom and I was on my own. I thawed a whole round cut steak and marinated in soy and worschestershire for couple hours and hit the 600* blackstone. Some home fries and eggs. Yeah I think I will be alright on my own. LOL
IMG_5521.jpegfinish it off with a vodka cranberry cocktail.

Didnt get any photos, but served my corned venison reubens for dinner tonight and it was a hit, even with the "I don't like venison" part of the crew
Everyone, and I mean everyone except one child, tried deer loin at my Thanksgiving yesterday. All but 2 adults went back for seconds. There were no leftovers.

For the record I did tell them what it was so there was no trickery and I give a variation of the same speech at every family gathering I host.

“This is a mesquite smoked turkey from xyz farm and this is a deer loin from Iowa public land with a coffee rub also smoked in mesquite. Our only rules here are you should eat things you want to try, don’t eat things you don’t, and the absolute most important; don’t yuck someone else’s yum. I don’t care what you don’t like, don’t make me feel bad for eating things I do like.”

Mrs and I tag teamed this easy Shepherds pie! 4 venison meals! I think she’s warming up to Bambi. Warming in the oven now. Will report back in an hour with hour it turned out. View attachment 94994View attachment 94995View attachment 94996View attachment 94997
That looks killer! We used to make " The Shep" (beef) all the time but it's been awhile. I have to try that.

Appreciate including your recipe card, but even zoomed in I can't really read it. Curious about the details/seasonings. I know how to make ours but...
