Where the skys are so blue!
Strictly deer season (not counting ducks, squirrels, tribbles, wookies, or halflings). Strictly hunting, ie in the woods with a weapon and the intent to kill (not scouting or stand prepping).

Is this a hard number or an estimate?

Are you consistent in this figure over the past 5 years?

Good question. I could only guess but I would think conservatively I hunt 3-4 days a week for the whole season which is first Saturday in Oct to the first Saturday in January. Early season is very weather dependent (ie too hot) and late season is dependent on if I'm finished for the season or still hunting. Mid season is pretty much 6-7 days a week.

Hunt about 20 days total but is probably 35-40 hunts broken up over the season. Hasn’t been much more than that, I will say my hunts are getting progressively more successful so may cut those back a bit & travel some or turkey hunt/ sika hunt more.

I hunt pretty much every week day evening morning and evening on Saturday (no Sunday hinting in Pa except the 3 days a year). then the rut ill hunt all day Saturday. But I easily hunt 50 days between archery and rifle then late archery.

I try to hunt between business trips and hit it hard for a couple days at a time during the weekdays. Worse part is heading to the tree and bustted due to coming in later than expected but it doesn't stop me from climbing.

My number I shoot for is 40 hunting days per deer season or 80 hunts.

5 or 6 archery season Saturdays
7-8 days vacation
5 or 6 evenings after work
3 days in rifle season

Between 20 and 25ish pretty consistently right now. Used to get out more after work before kids.

8 archery weekend days (split between morning and evening sits)
8-10 archery weekday after work sits
3-4 rifle full day hunts
5-6 muzzleloader full day hunts

So something like 20-25 days. Pretty consistent over last 5 years, with the rifle season declining every year offset by increased archery and muzzleloader.

I would like to think I hunt more than I actually do, but on average, with a full-time job and family...... I'm doing good getting 10-19 hunts in during a season. This does not include scouting forays or hunting for other game. My thoughts when thinking about and answering this poll are legit actual saddle up the tree hunts and/or other preset locations and/or ground sits during the firearms season. When I retire.... hopefully I will be blessed to be in the woods a lot more often all year around!!!

1-2 sits on the less busy seasons

Per my deer log I average right around 80 sits for deer per year but those aren't always mornings and evenings of the same day. I often hunt evenings only after work during the week locally and then often sit only evenings or mornings on travel days when hunting remote from home. That means those 80 sits are spread out over more than 40 days. Bottom of line is I'm blessed with the ability to spend a lot of days in the woods between Oct. 1st and Jan. 1st every year.

I've been looking for a small parcel to lease nearby (or a free permission) and if I can find the right one, I could add another roughly 10 days per season. I'd like it to be within a ten-minute drive. My 40 days are based on having to travel anywhere from 1/2 hour to an hour to my hunting grounds.

I only get two buck tags so to say I'm selective is an understatement. :tearsofjoy: I generally kill at least one and often two bucks a year. I've always said those tags are my tickets to hunt. Ideally I'd fill my second tag on Jan. 1st.

Its only in the last couple of years that Michigan has gotten more liberal with the doe tags in teh areas I hunt but I still have trouble shooting does, especially does with young un's with them . . .old habits die hard. Truth of the matter is I just really enjoy time in the tree.
