How many deer have you killed?

How old you are - 33

When you started - 15

How many seasons - 16 ( I missed 2 seasons due to deployments)

Where you're from/where you generally hunt - Pennsylvania, PA & WV public land only

And how many deer you've kilt! - WV- 9, NC 3, HI 6, SC 1, PA - 31, GU - 1(phillipine deer) so 50+ total most of which were does... and my largest buck is only a 112"... so I got a long way to go to catch up with most of yall....

Edit..... 46 total I got one today....

Edit #2 - had my first 4 buck year this year (2021) plus a doe and still have 2 more doe tags. . . It ain't over yet!

Edit #3 - added 3 more bucks this year, one being my best buck to date. I still have 2 buck tags and 2 does tags, so we will see how the rest of the year goes.

Edit #4 - killed a third buck on WV rifle season opener last year, and killed 2 buck so far this season in WV archery.

I’m 49 as of this past October. Been hunting for 8 years. At best estimate I have killed between 18-19 deer in those 8 years. This past year was my highest with 4 total. All of my hunting so far has been on private land so far and in Tennessee.

I been reading threads where guys say, seasons almost over and I have __ tags to fill.

Must be nice. Up north there were years you were lucky to see a deer. We had party permits just to take one doe for the group. For a time they were called grey ghosts.
That kind of skues things a bit. Those of you able to legally kill so many, enjoy!
Almost wish I was south but the couple I shoot anymore are more than enough for our needs.

There are always some who will take for granted the availability of tags, especially in my area. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity Pennsylvania provides hunters. I was able to provide enough meat for my family last year, to the point we didnt have to buy red meats at all. That was the first year that I was able to do that. That was with four deer in the freezer. This year I've taken 6 in 2 states donating 2 deer to hunters feeding the hungry, one from WV and one from PA. Our herd can handle the harvest numbers, while other regions couldn't handle our harvest numbers. It is disappointing when I hear guys complain abo iij t how there aren't any deer left in my area when guys like you are hunting hard to filling limited tags with a sparse herd. I respect guys like because you are forced to learn how to be a woodsman if you want to kill deer. Many here carry their bucket to the same spot they've hunted for 25 years then complain because there are no deer left....

I don't want to turn this into a competition, but I'm really curious.

I just added every one I can remember up and so far I'm at an even 20. For a broke 25 year old I'm not too disappointed, but I definitely want that number to go up. Of course, I killed my first when I was maybe 7? So I'd like to think I neglected a doe or two. Sometimes mine and my dad's kills run together too since we hunt so much and I clean the majority of his deer lately. But I know for sure I've accounted for 20.

Let me know:

This might be a fun summer post!

I have never killed a deer outside of Alabama and hunt primarily public, btw.

I am 41 years old.

I started deer hunting in 1992 when I was 12

I have hunted 28 years

I have lost count but I can say that I should be well over fifty I think and I’m thinking I’m pushing or am close to triple digits.

I hunt in middle and south eastern Virginia. All has been on private land ranging from 3 acres to 150 acres was the large place I have had access to. I leased 120 acres for three seasons and I determined it was not worth the money. I have been fortunate enough to gain access through being friendly and talking about my passion of hunting especially bow hunting.

Most of the deer 75% were shot with gun between muzzle loaders and shotgun with the majority being taken with a muzzle loader, typically the shotgun hunting has been done on maned deer drives but the muzzle loader and bow have almost exclusively been still hunting. I have pretty much gave up the gun hunting and gone to the recurve bow, but the bow broke in the middle of this season so I did take a 16ga shotgun on one hunt and had success with the gun this season.

Almost all of the deer have been killed inside of twenty yards due to the terrain and lack of visibility in the woods where I hunt.

I hope everyone has had a safe fun season. I can say that picking up the recurve this year has made deer hunting much more fun again. Hunting has been about fun with friends and family not getting wrapped up about big bucks and how much turf I have acquired to hunt. I have seen big bucks and the amount of land you have access to drive people nuts.

29 years old and started bow hunting when I was 26. So 3 seasons with my bow and 2 with muzzleloader. From se MN and hunt a mix of private and public land. Ive killed 3 deer so far. Skunked the first season. Shot a doe at 123 yards with my muzzleloader my second year. Took a smaller 8pt beginning of November this last season and a doe with my muzzleloader a couple days before Christmas.

Guess I missed this thread earlier this year:

Well gee I guess it's 8 now!

Where you're from/where you generally hunt
Southeast Michigan, semi-rural private and public land.

And how many deer you've kilt!
If my numbers are right i've put down 15 deer in 8 seasons. 12 with a gun and 3 with a bow.

Adult onset hunter here. Didn't pickup a gun to hunt I was 29 - the year after my daughter was born. Nobody in my family really hunted other than my Grandpa. He took me out I think once when I was small kid. I wasn't into it and probably annoyed him in the blind lol. My Dad asked me to come to deer camp the year after my daughter was born (he asked before, but between work and girls I always had an excuse). My wife coming from a big hunting family encouraged me to go as she liked venison. Went out for Michigans firearms opener that year and shot a doe in the morning and a 8pt buck in the afternoon. That one day pretty much changed my life. Been hunting hard ever since and have since expanded into turkey and small game.

Where you're from/where you hunt-Maine born and raised and have only hunted deer in Maine but have hunted bear in Canada.
How many deer have you kilt- Lost track but I reckon it's around 70 to 80. When I was a kid growing up it was 1 and done whether you shot a buck or doe with either gun or bow but where I live now along the coastal region I can legally take 2 bucks and as many does as I want with my bow. I only have to buy additional tags if I want to take additional deer. I have one tree that is actually about 400 yards from my front door that I have now taken 13 deer from. Oh yeah, my best buck scored 146 3/8" and was my first deer. Seems like it was just yesterday.

Let’s figure out how to hang a saddle from a prickly pear!

When you find out a way brother, let me know. Those prickly pear cactus are hard to hang anything on unless it’s your clothes your trying to hang lol.

Never enough. Past couple years I’ve given meat away, which allows me to kill more ;) 1-2/year. Maybe 3-4 this year, fingers crossed.

Where you're from/where you generally hunt - from MN. Hunt MN 50/50 Public/Private

And how many deer you've kilt - I've killed 13 deer. Rifle hunted from ages 12-21. Now I'm bow 90% of the time. Still tote the boom stick every now and then to fill someone else's freezer. I've killed 5 with my bow in the last 4 years. In MN it's one buck per year and a max of 5 deer per year. The one buck rule has made me pass up some bucks that I wish I would have shot, but I get my killing fix on does and the occasional squirrel. I find a sense of accomplishment watching a buck in his natural habitat without him knowing I'm there. Don't necessarily need to kill, but it sure is fun!
