Hunting Pack

Thanks guys, I'm just a basement tinkerer. I've done some custom work for guys from time to time.

Id like to see a larger pouch (on the front of the pack) like this mystery ranch pack that I use that I can slide my predator and aider in under my sticks but will still be secured by the outer straps. This would prevent me from having to open the pack when arriving at the tree.

That would be cool. ;)

I’m watching this for sure

Turns out it fits the predator almost perfectly. I had never tried because it looks too small. Got the predator in and the aider slid in on the outside. Sticks tightened down secure and no banging whatsoever. This is a game changer for me. Hope it might help some designs!! IMG_2268.jpg

Mystery ranch treehouse. Had some things I like some things I’m on the fence about.

I had a treehouse for about 2 hours. Didn't fit the bill for me.

Probably the wrong forum but following along to see where you go with this build as I am looking at pack ideas myself.

I scooped up a big honking roll of 400d OD pack cloth from military prison here on Ft Leavenworth. They used it in their textiles program to build and repair gear. Also got a roll of the stuff they make duffle bags out of and a roll of Kevlar cloth.

Anyway it takes up a lot of space and if any are interested in some to experiment with shoot me a message and I’ll make you an offer you can’t refuse. Everything but the Kevlar is water proof and all MILSPEC. Don’t be shy talking about 300 yds or so total!

I'd like to see something about 2000 cu in. I don't mind a waist belt but some of them are jammed with so many useless little pouches that it ends up making them too bulky. One main compartment, divided in half front to back, and a larger exterior pocket nearly the width of the pack that will expand at least 4". 2 compression straps on the outside for the bow, or extra clothes. A deep side pocket on each side 1/2 the height of the pack. with a strap 3/4 of the way up. I have an old fleece pack from Gander Mtn. that uses these coarse plastic zippers that are the most quiet zippers ever. I've hunted with that pack for twenty years and never had one problem with the zippers. I think zippers these days are super loud because the teeth are so fine. Both the main compartment and the rear compartment should unzip fully but mesh sewn on the interior sides would keep the contents from spilling out, but would allow the compartments to open fully. I think most packs these days have too many little pockets for organization. Half the stuff you put in them you don't use much but it's stuff you like to bring. I like the idea of a small independent bag that fits the bottom of the pack. It could stay on the bottom of the pack, or hang off the side of the pack or off a molle gear hanger strap. It would unzip like the rear compartment with the same mesh on the sides. If you feel the need for a bunch of small zippered pockets for small gear storage, this would be the spot. My 2 cents. More like a buck and a quarter. I do favor a fleece exterior, I don't know if you could laminate a more durable interior fabric, or even if you would need to. My fleece pack has no holes after all these years

Might be missing your calling boss. Thats some skills right there.
That’s what I’ve told him before! Quit your day job. The ultralight backpacking community would pay your bills if you sew some packs for them too.

Question for you the guys covering their gear/packs in fleece....

How well does that prevent stick-tites, cockle burs, and other vegetation from sticking? If veg does stick, how easy to clean? I hunt some woolly stuff and I try to make sure I am not spending more time than I have to cleaning random plant pieces off my gear or clothing.

Thanks

Life has held me up working on this. So the base is 98% done. Still have a couple small tweaks to make. I think I will add a sleeve for attaching an optional load bearing waist belt. I opted to use an EXO shoulder harness instead of making one. Frame is 1/8" hdpe, 1/4" closed cell foam, and carbon arrow stays. Versatile is the name of the game with this idea. I have some add on options for this thing in the works. I will post them up as I get each done. Possibilities are endless.

Sooooo where do we place orders???..... and can I be first??!! :)

Even can have a swing down turkey seat with straps to make it self-supporting and could use even if no tree to lean against

Add a game bag for decoys or carrying out a Tom

Really cool possibilities
