I’m finally convinced

Come to the light, the JX3 tree saddle light..............
Don't be afraid, you will sit from dark to dark very comfortably, no fidgeting, be able to snooze when you want, no dreaded hip pinch, no back aches, you can shoot 360° around the tree with any weapon, bow or gun.
No platform required, only a ROS, no sore feet, no knee pads required, no sore knees, no tired legs from leaning as you can sit all day, built in pack frame for carrying all your needs. No getting into “saddle shape” as your Lazy Boy at home does it for you. Buy once, cry once.

How is it for transitioning from sitting to standing? anything binding or impeding you movement? weight of system?

I was waiting to see this…

Three years ago I was running sticks up to an M7 lock on. I started with a JX3 because I like comfort. With 3-4 sticks my system was fairly heavy. I’m pretty satisfied with my current methods… any longer sit is a JX3 + one stick / rappel… if I want to get light and tactical for a quick sit it’s a Recon + one stick / rappel.

As of now if I could only choose one, it probably has to be the JX3, because sometimes I’m sitting for 5 hours. Maybe the Drey changes the math a little, but I personally don’t have plans to change much this fall.

I dont see a lot of details. But if you dont mind me asking, what does your JX3 weigh with one stick, rappel gear and ROS?

Try as many things as you can for free. Expect delivery times to be longer than stated. Don't think for a moment that you are going to save money. Don't sell your stands or ladders first year. What sounds stupid this year may make perfect sense next year. In your situation, it would be worth a good drive to get to a saddle meet up. Find something you like and use it often.

If you fly into the Denver area you are welcome to try out what I have. Small sample but it helps. Good luck with the search.

The JX3 weighs around 13lbs as is. The rest will be specific to stick, rappel set, ROS choices.

You can certainly be lighter than a JX3 in an elevated hunting system, although when you add up all the components of different systems it is sometimes a wash.

I'll say this about JX3, you don't feel it's full weight on your body like you do a stand. It really carries well, and makes your whole load feel lighter than it often otherwise would, especially compared to say, a loaded down daypack.

There's other reasons it may or may not be a good tool for someone, but every discussion of system weight needs to be contextualized by "felt weight". The conversation becomes somewhat subjective then, so, take or leave what I have to say on how the JX3 carries, but I've been openly skeptical about it before getting one to explore and am sharing my experience.

Is it my go to, no, not yet anyway, probably something I'll use when it suits my needs. There is a lot of upside though, amd I'm still exploring that.

My setup right now is stored out at the farm about an hour away so can’t get a weight on it right now… but would estimate about 20 lbs, sound about right?

Agree with you, the system carries well and early / mid season I’d consider the weight on my back as “negligible”… when I was carrying 3-4 sticks that was more “noticeable” weight. In late season everything gets heavier but that’s just carried layers adding up.

As for the pros and cons of the system, yeah that’s a fairly lengthy discussion and there’s other good threads on that.

If you can find some shops with saddles, I’d go try on as many as possible. If not, it is a crapshoot!

As for a platform, I have done everything from nothing but my feet on the tree, to screw in steps, to a modern platform, and now I’m using the LWCG .5 five pound stand. For me, the .5 was the ultimate answer. Good luck with it, it’s all about the fun. Enjoy!

The JX3 is designed to primarily be a "sitting sling" really no need to do much transitioning, other than when you need to move 360 degrees, silently on your ROS, to get the optimum shot angle.
It is very easy to stand, lean on your ROS, but I do very little standing or leaning.
The seat is so very comfortable, maybe once an hour or when the pee urge gets me, do I really move, (stand, lean).

My setup so far: EWO one stick with Ultimate Platform (12”) - 2 step aider, Cruzr XC saddle (LOVE IT), safeguard or figure 8 with 40’ of rappel in one hip pouch and comfort strap, Tethrd HYS strap, range finder, and ropeman in the other. Started hunting last year with 3 helium sticks with Predator platform and that very quickly progressed into one-sticking and I definitely won’t look back this season at least. One-sticking is amazing once you get the hang of it. Super fun too when not hunting.
