I CANT HOLD IT IN ANY LONGER!

I personally don't feel like companies are throwing out saddles just to feed the craze. Does the craze help? Absolutely. But I also see each company doing a little bit of their own thing as far as the innovation is concerned. For example, tethrd and aero hunter both make purpose built saddles while stressing different characteristics for a common end state. The mantis seems to be geared towards the ultra minimalist lightweight crowd and even the diy crowd with it's easy to modify design (buckles, webbing retainers, etc). In my opinion, the mantis struggles a bit in the durability department. Aero hunter drives home the comfort, durability, and 1 saddle for the rest of your life aspects. I don't know or care what they weigh on a scale but I can say my kite is noticeably heavier than my mantis so I'm sure the kestrel is even further from the mantis in terms of weight. There are many differences between the two saddles. Anyone who owns both can attest to that. With all that being said they are all legit saddles and shine in their own areas. I'm sure when the trophyline and wild edge saddles surface they will too. With all the brains that contribute to tree saddle design and the good saddles we have available to us now, I don't feel like we have many major break throughs left to witness. So when a saddle company comes out with a new product that has a slightly different design or small tweaks here and there that make sense I see that as a valuable accomplishment that we can all benefit from.

Not sure how they are throwing them out there have been 4 saddles brought to the market in 3-4 years. Its not their fault that people are buying them up so fast. Maybe someone needs to write to these companies and tell them to stop making money. If the product was bad people would even think about buying but they can see a use /need for the new saddle. We all work hard and should be able to spend our money the way we want to. Turns out we like to spend our money on new saddles and gear. Ha

If I have to do R&D I want 15%. Im not going to just give it away.

Im within a year of being debt free and sewing isn't my thing. You cant look at the offerings and be blown away by the innovations.

The debt free thing will bite you in the rear as far as missing opportunities. It, dang will it be nice!!! We are almost there, and should be by the end of the year. (Minus a small mortgage with a high percentage of equity).

We almost jumped in headfirst producing hot sauces and salsas a couple years ago, but just couldn’t bring ourselves to get back into debt after working for 5 years to get out of it. We may revisit the idea in a few years. I’m considering a career change (within the same company though) so everything is on hold except the debt snowball!

I promise Im not picking on anyone, pointing them out or bullying, but this is past due.

Stop copying each other so you can hurry up and get a $300 diaper on the market before the craze dies.

Step back, take a minute, get out of the box and BLOW THAT SUCKER OUT OF THE WATER!!!!! IT WILL TAKE YOU FURTHER THAN JUST GETTING IN LINE BEHIND THE REST!!

There is soooooo much room for innovation in this product that no one has even scratched the surface of.

I cant believe that nobody has taken this product in some pretty obvious directions.

What directions are you thinking?

R&D investment is proportional to the market segment and market potential. So from a business perspective we can’t be hoping for Elon Musk type research money to be thrown at the opportunity of capturing 50% of the saddle hunter forum members.

That being said I think there are two cool opportunities that are worthy of pursuing:

1. Ultimate climbing method - in my mind this would be an affordable climbing spur that is light weight but DOES NOT penetrate Bark and is public land legal. You would have to change the spur design. But if it were affordable and light and public land legal it would sell very well IMO.

2. Common man convenient repel - is there a very convenient repel solution that doesn’t involve ropes getting stuck/tangled or pre set? If there were a very easy/fun way to repel our of a tree quietly without alerting a herd that you are there that would be good.

#2 May already exist and if so let me know.

#1 doesn’t exist but if you develop it I MIGHT already have a patent pending so give me a shout, maybe I’ll give you IP rights in exchange for a flex or kestrel and we can call it even
Concerning #1 above - Have you seen EONPOWS?

Correct, got some off the FB site for $50. I'll definitely be using them this year a ton, but they could be way lighter if they were aluminum. There is a European company that makes some, but they are way too beefy, also like 10lbs and $400... These could be 4lbs and amazing if the right materials were used.

The EonPow design is the one Im surprised no one has expanded on. That euro company version is awesome, but too bulky and expensive. Or developing a LW Handclimber option that works better (without tons of mods). Those two would sell like hot cakes. Sticks are heavy and bulky, spurs have huge learning curve and mostly not legal, then add in a platform and they can also be hassle at times. Ring of steps are light, but uncomfortable another buckle and strap and messing with this and that. Jeez it gets to be a lot.

Honestly, I think the actual saddle is the ONE thing that doesn't need to be improved on, at least for a long time. How can you improve on a JX3/Kestrel/Flex/Mantis, you have options for any type of diaper you want to wear
