Ideal Single Stick?

The whole climb up I'm fighting gravity with that thing. I've love to figure out how to use the link for getting around branches without it moving down after setting.

Once set up, the top of my distel hitch sits right under the link so it won't come loose. Sorry I misunderstood your previous question of me, I thought you meant while climbing.

You can also put a section of 1” tubular webbing on the rope and will grip the tree surprisingly well while also protecting the rope from the tree.
