I`m doing what I can in preparation for the upcoming season. I`m done scouting for the day and figured I would share this vid. I love using these aiders and despite how you hunt, if you climb a tree you might want to look at these. I bought 1 then bought a 3 pack. Check them out in person on April 27th in Auburn Ma at the saddle palooza
I love this idea, but before I order from Amazon, what length did you order, SloMo? It comes in 24” and 48” lengths—- not sure if that’s the length once doubled (in a full link) or if it’s a running length. Thanks!

Slomo, Thanks for the tip. I love how everyone is giving good pointers on equipment. I will definitely try this as soon as I get saddle and aiders.

If you can’t stomach the HEAVY PACK LOAD of nylon webbing this works great for Amsteel aiders too... I stitch the zip ties to the rope with serving thread.

I like that idea, what sized amsteel where do you all buy that stuff and how do you cut it and etc. ?

The 24" strap weights 1.8 oz with a big zip tie tucked inside. Compared to the 15.6oz step, that's a pretty good weight savings.

I’m using 1/8” SGT KNOTS off amazon, there’s lots of sources. The actual OD seems bigger than that and tensile is 2500 lbs+, but even larger diameters are super light. You’ll need to learn to splice, which requires a few cheap tools but I found it to be pretty fun and opens up new possibilities for you. Sorry that’s too much to cover here. Here’s my rough sketch I use in the garage when making my aiders. I would not call the bury that the arrow points to ‘textbook’, so cannot recommend but it has worked fine for me, I’ve stitched it. Once you get into it you’ll probably understand what I mean. Can return to this thread if I can help in the future.

I was ordering some stuff from Amazon the other day and I ordered one of these. The zip tie works great. Just goes to show you that simple is often the best solution. Thanks SloMo
